Norinco 1911's... how well does yours feed semi-wadcutters?

I am going this week to the reloading supply store in my area. So I called ahead of time to check their stock, and they do not have any .45ACP round nose lead bullets, only semi-wadcutters. They only sell lead bullets and I am only willing to buy lead right now.

Have any of you guys who own the new Norc Police Model (or any Norc 1911 that has NOT been tuned) tried SWC's? How did they feed?

Should I just go for the SWC's or wait until they have round nose in stock?

If the OAL is correct mine feeds perfectly,in fact that's all I feed it, but it was tuned at Armco. So, as they say YMMV. I don't think you'll have too many problems if you're talking about 200 grainers (H&G 68).

ahhh... should have said 'untuned' info in my post lol

I'll correct it.

I wish I could send it to Gunnar. But last time I checked he was not accepting any work :(

My first Nork 1911 ate them with no problems, my 2nd nork was picky, I increased the OAL slightly and now it's fine.

If the profile is the same as the H&G 68 varying the OAL slightly (very slightly) should allow it to feed in a relatively unaltered throat, it would be a trial and error thing though.

Had some problems with my straight-outta-Marstar 1911 feeling lead semi-wadcutters, but I finally figured out it was my sloppy reloads. I played around with length and belling the case mouth and haven't had many problems since. Occasionally squishes the brass from round #7 for some reason, but...

How much does it cost to have the feed ramp on a 1911 polished?

Is it really necessary for me to send the entire gun? I mean, can't I just take the barrel out and send it to the person doing the polishing?

You are from south ON so are you talking about DRG bullets?

My Nork loves SWC. Feeds better than RNs.

My untuned Norc 1911A1 compact feeds Fiocchi 230 gr JHP's flawlessly, so I have no doubt that it will feed 200 gr SWC's. As others have indicated it is making sure your reloads are done correctly.... proper OAL and don't "over bell" your case for seating seem to be the key as far as all the 200 gr SWC .45ACP's I loaded over the years.

My stock Norc works well. It would originally jam, but that was fixed by putting more crimp (the casemouth was jamming on the top of the chamber)

I think it will feed fine as long as your reloads are properly formed.

Norinco Police Model likes 200 lead swc

My stock police model from Canada Ammo runs swcs just fine.

When I reload I run them as close to maximum overall length as possible.

Also, I add lubrication every 200 rounds or so.

My stock Norinco .45ACP feeds lead semi wad cutters and everything else I feed it well.

I have used several brands of semi wadcutter and round nose and only had problems with Exel plated bullets because they were poorly made and varied greatly in diameter.

Cool, sounds like I should be safe then. I would be getting my bullets from Hummason's in Ancaster. Not sure if they are made by DRG or not.
