Scared the #### out of me...pulled the trigger and she emptied the magazine. What the hell happened for it to do this and how do I fix it? Firing pin doesn't seem to be sticking but the hammer doesn't stay back (cocked). Kinda fun though but a tad dangerous don't ya think? :)
 
Yep, either the disconnector broke or it has worn out or the action group is gummed up somehow. Field strip it and lift out the action group and give it a good cleaning.

If the disconnector LOOKS like it's OK you can test for a proper resetting point. With an empty gun #### the hammer and dry fire it. But hold the trigger back instead of letting go. With the other hand rack the slide. The hammer should stay back in the cocked position. If it doesn't you've got something wrong and the disconnector isn't disconnecting the trigger bow correctly. So deal with that. If the hammer does stay back like it should then slowly ease up on the trigger until you feel the little click that indicates that the disconnector has reset itself. What you need to do now is repeat this test a few times and mark with a pencil or whatever on the trigger the hammer trip point and the reset point. There needs to be at least 1mm between them. If they are too close then you can end up with a full auto experience like you had.

What happens if they are too close is that the gun ends up bump firing because you can't hold it firmly enough and the frame springs back then forward in your grip.

EDIT TO ADD- It's been a while since I had a couple of 213's and played with them to learn about some gunsmithing and doing trigger jobs. But as I recall the rear of the trigger bow has a light leaf spring that pushes against it to move it forward as a trigger return spring as well as allowing it to move up and down a little at the rear by the disconnector. So check that this spring is still there and that the track for the trigger bow isn't gummed up with packed in fouling or some other debris.
 
Disconnector broke on my brothers TT-33 and he kept going for several more shots before deciding to stop and see what was wrong. It never did run away on him or double. I'll credit the surplus primers with that.

Why?

This isn't FA, it is a gun that has broken and malfunctioned. FA requires the gun fire when the trigger is pulled and stop firing when it is released. In this case the gun emptied the mag uncontrollably. THAT is NOT FA fire. It is a malfunction which is not against the law.

Something like this happened to the US, except it fired two shots instead of burning the mag. Despite being a one time error, the guy was arrested for possession of an unregistered machine gun. I hope the same doesn't happen to you.
 
Watch for the "boys in the lab" to pull another stunt with those guns now.

Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to mess one up enough to prohib the lot of them.
 
haa, Yes, that is true. I remember reading the article. They swatted his house, as the rifle, an AR 15, he lent it to someone who intended to buy it. It went f/a for a few shots at a range,..in Amerr'ka. The guy who owned it was on that prepper show, so obvi. that is why they sent swat after him for a malfunction.. appearently the kid kept it niice & dirty.

I had the same thing happen to a .22 pistol i bought used the first time I tried firing it. There was a burr on the edge of the chamber (probably from dry firing too much!), and when the slide closed it acted as a firing pin and would do 2 or 3 round bursts! I dressed it out with some sandpaper and it was good to go and has had thousands of rounds without a hiccup. can be quite dangerous if it was pointed in an unsafe direction or at other more valuable guns on the bench in front of you!

You seem to have missed the part of your own post where you note that this occurred in the US. American laws are VERY different than ours. Such a charge would NEVER fly in Canada.
