I justr purchased a Norinco Em-332 from Marstar. When I first got the rifle, I was very impressed with the finish and appearance of the rifle. Given that this is a Chinese-made rifle, it is an awesome finish. After cleaning it, I took it out to the range. My first few groups were disastrous – I was seriously thinking of wrapping it around a tree. Then I noticed that the groups were getting a little tighter, so I decided to burn off some 150 rounds of miscellaneous ammo, thoroughly cleaning it about every 50 shots. Then I got down to business, seeing how well it would shoot. I fired several groups each of 6 types of ammo, all standard loads (no match ammo). Most of the ammo gave me groups around 1 inch at 50 yards (with scope). The best ammo I found for it was the Winchester High Velocity – I got several groups around ½ inch, the best about 3/8 in. This equals anything I was able to get with my son’s CZ, at almost 3 times the price. :)

As requested, here is a link to my second best target (7/16"). The best one is presently in a locker, and I'm too lazy to get it. However, it's not much better at 3/8". I have not been a competition shooter for over 20 years, but I'm hoping to get back into it.

I didn't imply that this little rifle shoots better than a match rifle, but it does shoot AS WELL as my son's CZ. Keep in mind that this is a $230 rifle with a scope worth about $50 (I didn't want to spend a lot of money on glass until I knew the rifle could shoot - it does and I will).

There is more to come.

Go and test some top quality target ammos - the em332 will improve considerably on 3/8th" groups at 50 with them.

Extremely accurate rifle with good match ammos and easily beats brno and cz. Mine has a best 5 shot group at 55 yards of 0.13" or 1/8th inch CTC.

Target ammo should improve your results. I'm impressed that it will even keep up with a cz.
Mudgrip4, you gotta be sh*tting us, this thing can shoot .13 groups??
Lets say you shoot 5, 5 shot groups at 50yrds with quality target ammo, what do you suspect your average group size to be?

I've seen this same sort of barrel breakin with a couple of my handguns. Some accused me of just not knowing the gun and how to best hold it. But when one was shooting well after only 20'ish rounds and the other took almost 100 to 120 rounds to come to the same grouping I really can't blame my grip on that. So I'm not surprised to hear that your barrel took a few rounds to finish polishing itself.

Oh, and you know the rules.....

These rifles have a considerable reputation for accuracy over here in NZ.

They are a higher technical spec model with an olympic target rifle action, and we find them to have very tight bolt head-spacing. Used as a trainer rifle for the chinese military. They are not your average sporter.

Have used mine alot on range over 2-3 years and it is easily the most accurate .22 I've owned/tested - and that includes cz, brno, toz, marlin, henry, other norincos, ruger, savage etc - have owned and range tested 13 or 14 other 22s in the last 2-3 years alone. Am often buying, bedding, floating, modifying, restoring rifles.

I don't shoot alot of groups at 50m as I use it mostly for 100m (109 yards) shooting - but at 100m it will shoot strings of groups under 1", averaging about 0.75", will often shoot 1/2" or half MOA, and drops under the half inch to 0.4" groups at best at 100m. It will touch 1/2" at 100m with PMC Match Rifle, Winchester Expert std vel, and Aguila superextra high velocity - the latter being its favourite hv. It quite easily surpasses our cz/brnos etc which tend to top out standard at about 0.4" at 50m. The Norinco jw15 CAN also outshoot the czs etc and did so in a couple of recent range shoots. I say 'can' with the jw15 because there is a variability in quality with the jw that does not seem to occur with the em. JW15 can just duck into the 0.3"s standard - or about 3/8" at 50m, which many have found on RFC. EM at best has another gear on this.

At 50m it has a best group of 0.08" with PMC Match Rifle, 0.13" with Eley Match, and 0.31" with Aguila superextra high velocity. Have not used alot of match ammo at 50m, but at this distance it has averaged for sets of 5 shot groups about 0.37" with aguila high velocity. Exceptional for hv.

NOTE HOWEVER: NOBODY simply goes to the range occasionally and shoots sub quarters. It doesn't happen. I have spent many many years in competition incl winning what you would call state championship level. A bit of practice behind these results - and you have to be at your absolute best to get sub quarters.

The em332 I have is stock standard - but note it is sold as a target rifle - this is its spec. It is a strange offering amongst the often indifferent norinco range. Far higher presentation level, and with this target action. All group measurements are CTC.

This is a rifle that rewards the persistent and experienced club shooter prepared to put in the practice and test the ammos. I'm still amazed at its performance, but my gunsmith also has one and its just as accurate. A rare little gem. I do not know if all shoot this well for club shooters.

Will be testing a variety of Eley and Fiocchi product shortly at 50m to see what it likes more at this range.

Hope this helps.

It shots pretty much the same as my cz453.
Has anyone taken apart the EM332? The stock was very loose after couple range visits must been kept in storage for a longtime at Marstar.

Getting the last quarter inch out of the em, and the last eighth - from any accurate rifle for that matter - is what takes alot of time and skill and years of practice.

It is the domain where championships are won and lost, and most shooters never do it. It simply isn't that easy or we would all be champions, and in this competitive sport, that just doesn't happen.

This is a little 22 that rewards experienced shooters, and for them can have another gear over all I've tested. 1/8th groups are usually the domain of the best anschutz match rifles - though they will do this far more often.

It is however necessary to test the best quality match ammos, find one that it likes, then put v good optics on it, and do plenty of practice. There are no shortcuts for sub quarter grouping.

Unfortunately... :)

Exactly....this is why I'm having a hard time accepting that this $230 Norinco rifle with a non adjustable 6lb trigger can compete with a $2500 Anschutz.
You must have gotten the gem of all gems.
