Last week I was asking you guys best paint for job to Winter camo my rifle. This week I thought I`d post the results. I went with Krylon Fusion. Pics are a little dark, because sun was just setting.

Very nice job. I'm planning on painting a furniture set for my carbine white for winter pattern as well. I've got the OD (basic woodland) pattern already on, but unfortunately I can't find a winter set anywhere.

So I'll be taking a black set and painting it white, likely just with plastic-adherent paint (like the kind used on models).

White hockey stick tape is great. If you have a blued finish or anything you want to protect from the snow, water, sweating when brought indoors in winter, i oil everything first. Then i clingwrap snug so no air, next i hockey stick tape everything. I've used it over 20 years for coyotes in the winter on my Mod 70 FWT and the rifles finish is as new. It stays taped all winter. The oil on the rifle, covered by the clingwrap protects everything from moisture while not allowing tape to stick and leave residue on rifle parts. I can't imagine a more temporary protective winter camo for any firearm.

We used to wrap towels or socks around our handguards and buttstock when I joined back in '01. But as time went on as troops left and entered the ranks, certain field tricks disappeared.
No one does it anymore. Also because of more adamant uniform policies. So those of us who remember just don't bother.
