Norinco .45 ACP 1911-A1 Government model iron sights

Work on your hold and trigger control; my two Norincos (1911A-1 and NZ85) are right on at 20 yards... Not always am I.

Forgot all about this thread.

UPDATE: the problem was user error. The more I shot the .45 and got used to it, the "problem" fixed itself. POI is now POA.

Thanks for all the input

My older Norc Gov't shot a foot low @20 yds with a bulls eye hold and a moderate 220 gr load. Fixed rear sight and quite low front sight. I have made a rear sight to figure out how high it needs to be.
I have also soldered a small (.100") piece of brass to the front sight to make it a bit higher than the stock blade sight (pinned). I am now filing down the groove in my home made rear sight to get the desired height taking into account the higher front sight. I test it and then box it for a couple of days and try again to see if my hold has changed. When I find the proper height I will try and order an adjustable sight of the same height. I also try to get someone else to fire a string to see that it is not just me. I am just getting used to a semi and have only used a revolver in the past so I am sure my hold may account for something.
I remember a little diddly that said 0.1" change over a 6" sight separation gives 12" change in POI @20 yds assuming a straight flight path but you might want to check that.
