Norinco 5.56 1600rd crates @ $420

Thankfully, I never ever trust anything that I read on the web. I think Canucklehead was either joshing us or he needs new bifocals. (Don't take that too hard "C", I need some too!) Folks, hold onto your tinfoil hats -- the place was loaded with $420 crates this morning. I lost count at 40. There were so many to choose from, Redblack and I were mulling over the best way to buy them. Should we stick with one crate code or should we get a mix? I decided to go absolutely wild and try three codes instead of one! I believe he was smart enough not to follow my bad example. Spam cans all. So if you're cheap like me -- I can't speak for Redblack but he appeared to be the thrifty sort -- you save on the cost of an ammo can by buying the spam. I've got quite a bit of the yellow box already and am holding this for long term storage.

Did I mention that there are 40 cans still sitting there?

So what the heck are you waiting for? Go get 'em!!

BTW I almost hate to say this but TSE Sales might like to mention that they have A PILE OF HOT PRODUCT sitting on the floor to buy. And, to be entirely fair and accommodating to local Gunnutters, I suggest they put a dedicated coffee lounge in for us so we don't have to spend so much time talking out in the parking lot. ;)

One last thing -- and I'm sneaking this in here so CanAm might miss it for once -- the $399.90 deal on a CanAm "Family Pack" (group buy) of 10 crates is showing as "In Stock" at the moment. The second they see this, it'll be out of stock. I'm sticking with the local retailer TSE even if the cost is a bit more, especially since they have guaranteed spam cans. (An ammo can is about $20 ... the local spam can is priced $20 over the group buy of yellow box -- Ying Yang -- it all evens out in the end. :yingyang: )

I prefer spam cans for long term storage - pretty confident they're oxygen sealed and will keep until my grandkids tear down the wall I hid the crates and my non-res .223 guns in :)

Dangit - I'm broke too... just bought 20 oz of silver, but if there's 40 crates, I'd be willing to bet there'll be some till next pay cheque (I hope).

I grabbed two this morning too and they are alot of them. Two pallets full this morning.
BTW bigfooter, my first two crates had the CJ-5-09 on the wooden crate and they were head stamped CJ95

I can assure you - it was not intended as a joke at ALL. There was absolutley ZERO left on the skid when I showed up last night. If they have more - fantastic! However - my intent was not to deceive...just stating what I saw! :)

I believe that. I was just giving you a hard time and pointing out the necessity of checking stock on a daily basis. ;)

Looking at the spam can photos in the various threads and matching them with headstamps, it looks like CJ95 cartridges are found in cans marked CJ-5-09 (per Redblack's info), CJ-5-21 and CJ-5-22. I assume CJ-5-23 spam cans have the same vintage.

Word to the wise...it's a BARGAIN. Guys - you will probably not see bulk 5.56mm this cheap again in your LIFETIME. Buy it cheap and stack it deep....

A walk down the 1600rd crate pricing drop since the Norinco influx of 2011 (based on CanAm's trend-setting, free shipping movements):

July 2011 $679/crate (42 cents/rd)
July 2012 $569/crate (35 cents/rd)
Oct 2012 $499/crate (31 cents/rd)
Jan 2013 $449/crate (28 cents/rd)
Feb 2013 $400/crate (25 cents/rd...Group Buy rate)

TSE pricing = $420 + $21 GST = $441/crate (a little over 27 cents/rd ALL UP)

Canucklehead isn't a knucklehead at all: It don't get much better than this!

got my crate :) wooo thx guys.

You're welcome....but this is a Cowtown thread in case you hadn't noticed.

Those of us here rarely, if ever, see Norinco 5.56 crates at this price point locally so we're a little excited -- and stocking up while we can.

Still time, I counted about 24 crates earlier.

And in case some of you outside the area were thinking of ordering from a trend-setting, price-matching CGN sponsor that SHIPS FREE, here's the link you'll need:

Someone in Calgary won the $30,000,000 lotto Max. Imagine what kind of gun room and stockpile you could have with that kinda dough...

I go go for this, but 1600 rounds may be too many for me.

Any one want to split? That would be $210 each.

Seems like a good price for 800 rounds. Please PM me.

(I can meet you at the store, or I can get it then we can meet to split.)
