Norinco 50BMG make it happen Canam? increase the numbers while we still can .

Norinco PTRD: approved design, chamber it in a .50bmg... Just saying....

It is just a simple tube. And it would be exceptionally cheap to manufacture. It will be the new m305. And probably cost only $6-700 + freight.

Call it the Norinco (or dominion) arms model 50FuRCMP.
Just so 'they' know we care!

Yes, Maybe countries of the former USSR is the place to look for a cheap .50 sks svt mosin all come cheap out of there. Do they Have 50 cal rifles or equivalent!!
Single shot works for me, keep it simple for price and less breakage/repairs, but something that was sitting in a warehouse for 50-60 years in mag fed semi or bolt is fine,,just inexpensive!!

I hope Chris doesn't mind me posting in his tread (please feel free to delete), but I had the boys from Norinco show me their .50 today here at IWA.
Current price is over $7000USD, and that isn't retail. They themselves feel it is too high a price to sell any.
It was developed for PLA use, not for commercial export, due to cost.
The guy actually said "US 50's, $4000, Our 50, $7000+. We see no chance for sales"

I'm a Chinese and I have to agree you. Norinco can make some simple but classic designed weapons cheap and reliable, but not this sort of rifle. Yes they can make Santana as well as German made with 1/4 of the price, but you can't expect them make a Bugatti and still only 1/4 of the price. It will cost more, not less.

By the way, I'm a Chinese, I'm living in China so I don't know what's it like in CA, but what are you guys planning to do with a .50? Shooting some gargantuar zombie? Is the zombie problem that serious in Canada?

Correct me if I am wrong but there was a canadian made .50 bolt action single shot that was sold by an ex advertiser here on CGN a couple a years ago.

I cannot remember the price but I think that a canadian company could make one for 1500$ if demand is there. Single shot true the stock with bipod and telescopic mount.

Am I wrong?

Yes. Yes it is. BTW, are you Chinese by any chance?

No idea but that would be great - lets find them and start a pledge =)

I believe the "budget minded" Canadian made one is a CanStar which is a Noreen knock off.

If there were a 20mm available for $1500 and ammo were available I'd be in on that.

Sometimes you go quality, sometimes you go quantity... all depends on what you want at that time.

I second that.
A simple design such as the PTRS or PTRD shooting 50 BMG produced in CHINA would be wonderful.
Another alternative would be a special AR15 upper for 50BMG.
At the end a good deal on a combo with any of the above with 200 rounds of 50BMG !
I am IN !

Same as others.

If the price is reasonable I will buy one and don't forget to bring lots of ammo in (the easier on wallet to shoot more people with buy).

Just don't flame me for my wishful thinking (lol).

I got flamed a couple years ago for suggesting an inexpensive but safe single shot basic .50 bmg but all they said was you don't understand" What is it I don't understand except maybe not enough sales to cover tooling!? It is a very powerful round but every firearms maker understands that and can get the right metal and make the right thickness barrel and bolt/bolt lugs/ receiver! Not sure what is so difficult, some nice .338 can be had for $1000. ish so as the movie goes,, "for a FEW MORE DOLLARS!

I can't recall the name, but there is a .50 upper for the at platform already. That could be another good alternative to those who already own the other half of a rifle. Still hoping on a PTRD though... I can't imagine a rougher, cheaper design. Optics mount, could be a simple rail incorperated on the reciever: unless that would create a 'new' review.

Agreed.

The chamber pressure on the 50 cal is actually lower than the 338 LM (54,### psi vs 60,### psi).

I think the barrel could be the most expensive part if its a single shot bolt action.

Thus far, we have not liked the pricing we have been given for Norinco 50cal rifles as it would put them in the same range as the Steyr, if not more.

What about kits?

Bunch of people buy .50 receivers, looks like a bunch more .50's are in circulation.
No offence and that may be good for some,, but I want a complete legal, simple shootable .50bmg for a reasonable( $1500. ish) ! Just to have one? Yes But also to shoot, once or twice a year! So while we are waiting for Canam to source these for us,, I would like to shoot a washing machine full of green jello or something! What do you guys want to take out??? Give me some Ideas! Oh , an old style tube TV! Full of green jello!! ;0)

I lol'd

The BFG-50 is constructed using the most modern manufacturing methods (CNC machining, laser cutting, automated welding) and is made from the highest quality MIL-spec alloy steels. The safety factors to which all the critical parts are designed are very high; more than double what one finds in a typical production military rifle. While the price of this gun is incredibly reasonable, the low quality that one usually expects with a low price is not a fact of life with the BFG-50. How can this be done? Low overhead, and a design that's optimized for manufacturability as well as performance and quality. Plus a labor pool made up mostly of illegal immigrant children toiling in a hellish environment, subsisting on a diet of water, rice and cockroaches. The BFG-50 is a perfect gun for the enthusiast who has always wanted to have a .50 BMG rifle, but doesn't want to spend $3,000+ to get one. The BFG-50 is fully $1,000 cheaper than the nearest competition. And probably looks cooler, too.
