Norinco 7.62X51 review

Well not all ammo works well in all firearms, big surprise!

It work flawlessly in my m14 and rfb. It also worked good in my father's Remington semi auto.

Here is the target at 100 yard of my last range trip with my rfb... forgive my last round flyer.

Buy surplus when its available....it ain't gonna last forever. I still regret blasting off a case of Hirtenberger like I was throwing out used paper plates lol
 
I remember when districorp was selling 1000 round cases of hirtenberger for 320$......... Just jumped on the 399$ deal.... Like Hitzy said....Buy when available
 
Does anyone have any ballistic info for the norc 7.62? Muzzle velocity, ballistic coefficient, etc.. trying to get a base drop sheet set up for my shorty M14.

shot great out of the XCR-M today. good groupings and only had one minor issue, a failure to fire, hard primers i suspect but still happy with the ammo.
 
Just run through my third crate of Norc 7.62 nato, they shots well and i love it. Had miss fires on MFG, Remington, AmericanEagle and IVI surplus, but no norinco miss fire at all !

The only problem i had, is on my first crate, usually will have one round shoots off per every 20. On my second and third crate, only 3-4 shoots off.

It is said that Norc 7.62 NATO using steel core bullet, any one knows for sure?
 
I don't mean to de-rail this thread, but can anyone say whether this stuff would be a bad idea to use in a target rifle capable of sub moa? I'm thinking it might be a bad idea....those bullets must be pretty hard being attracted to a magnet.

Ive heard the thickness of the plating on the Norc 308 to be .008 of an inch. Modern .308 rifling is about half that depending on manufacturer. That sounds safe to me assuming Chinese manufacturing standard don't vary from their stated specifications. If it makes you feel better Ive retrieved some of my Norcs that I shot out of a Springfield M14 and found the copper plating to be fully intact.
 
I bought a crate of .45
It shoots okay but I find burns kinda dirty. It doesn't foul my pistol but it does leave a lot of residue....more than regular factory ammo.

I am not complaining as it was very cheap. But it is not top quality other.
 
I was using the Norc X51 stuff in my M14 as well as my AIA MK10 and I am very impressed with the groups I was getting with it, I used mine all up and will be buying more
 
Thanks for the info on the copper plating staying intact. Was worried these magnet attracting rnds will ruin my TRG barrel. NORCs are great for ringing the 200m gong, no point wasting match ammo for that. Match bullets alone cost more than the NORCs rnds.

Best result is 1" group at 100m with the NORCs vs. 1/2" for SMKs.

dont listen to people bashing norinco products. unless they have something specific to say, usually they are just hating the fact that its chinese and not TOP QUALITY. when u dont expect the best of the best, i have found every norinco product i have ever bought to surpass my expectations. the only product i have ever had fail was a <$10 air rifle scope ring that stripped itself. dollar for dollar, few can match norinco.
 
what's not to like the 762x51 ammo, inexpensive quite accurate (for shooting upto 300 yards at my club, keep on the 300 yard paper target if I do my job right, breathe in, breathe out, squeeze the trigger.

the only bad about it is the un-reloadable casings, it is not brass, but for the price, can't really ask for more.

i hoped canada ammo had more when they pushed the buy 3 get 1 free deal, well, grab some when you can before it is late.
 
Necro bump...

Anymore good (or bad) stuff to say about this stuff? Thinking of picking up a crate of 500 for a Springfield M1A Loaded...match sights and barrel...although I mostly shoot it scoped.
