Had mine out to the range today and only notable issue was FTE. Wondering what the cause might be... the extractor spring is weak? Anybody else have this issue? I was using crappy tire bulk 12 ga ammo with the white metal (non Brass) casing. Would that be a contributing factor to the FTE? Any suggestions or input are welcome. Lastly if it is an extractor issue, is anyone aware if you can swap in an 870 extractor/spring?

Its funny you should mention that...

I use the cheap Winchester stuff from Walmart and I've never had a problem with my Maverick 88, but almost everyone else who has used it (out of the same box) has had problems. This is everything from a Benelli M-4 to a single shot break action.

In most cases the extractor has torn a chunk out of the casing. Check and see if your extractor is grabbing it. If it is the problem is probably the shells...

A couple of instances it has done exactly that; tore a chunk out of the casing, other times it's like it just can't grab hold of it? and yet other times ejects 5 or 5 in a row. It boggles my marbles:confused:

I found the Federal 2 3/4 target extracts ok, it's got a thin steel casing. I just need to be rough with it. That being said, when I got the gun I used fine sandpaper on a stick to smooth out the chamber a bit, which probably helped.
