Norinco 870 14" owners thread

Yes, but I am not bringing that s**t up again...

I'm here for ya.......Buddy.
You just say the word and I've got a shoulder to cry on and all the hetro man hugs you can take..........:D

The grizz are great guns............But yes a "few" guys have had problems.

Has anyone had any problems with their Grizzlies?

:D
Read about DA Grizzly problems on other threads but haven't experienced any myself with my own Grizzly.

Judging from people I've spoken to who own DA Grizzly's they are quite variable in quality..........sometimes ya'll luck out and get a good one like I did..........other guys apparently haven't been so lucky.

I've demolished a lot of makeshift targets at the range with mine pumping box after box of slugs, bird shot & 000 buck through it without as much as a misfire, jam or tight extraction.

Did I luck out with the Grizzly I purchased?..........probably.

It's just as reliable .......if not more so .......as my Remington Marine stainless which is a real 870.

Can you hunt deer with an HP-9 with the 14" barrel using 3" slugs (assuming out to 50m)?

I'm going hunting for the first time in November and will be using my Norinco M14 as my primary; but wouldn't mind having a backup since I'll be in Manitoba, and the HP9 is my only other non restricted (besdies my DA Backpacker).

When HP9s first came out it was widley reported that they were standard issue for Hong Kong police. I'm pretty sure that means they are not junk. Mine is not as smooth as my 35 year old 870 wingmaster but it's not that far behind either. I got a 20in spare barrel and have Trijicon sights on receiver and both barrels.

Just bought my HP9 today and but 2 boxes thru it out of the box and worked flawlessly, only issuie i had was the flashlight they come with wouldnt install , wasnt enough room on the between the cap and barrel . Installed a heat sheild with the ghost rings (had to do some cutting to the sheild and redrilled the rear site, and shave just a hair on the inside of the foregrip) and got a actually group with 3 inch slugs at 40 yards of 5 inchs with 3 rounds . Surprised me and a keeper in my books for a backpaker or even a thick bush gun. I am glad after reading the reviews that i never got the homeland the guy at the shop was showing me lol. So the guy that was asking to use it for deer, well aslong as your in close range you'll be fine just go to the range and get use how it shots.

only shot about 15-20 slugs out of mine, but it works great. you have to ensure that you pull firmly on the back stroke of the pump, or the shells may not eject fully.

some one did mention earlier in the thread knocking the bead off coming around the corner of a barricade in a 3 gun match, so I'd say yes, they do, and it can be improved.:D

could happen to anyone on any gun, i have lost the site on my $5000 svi the same way.
User problem not gun problem..

Now I'm confused, nothing new I guess. I bought a shotgun from Milarm in Edmonton. Their ad said Norinco HP9-1 14" shotgun so I ordered it. I asked the sales person on the phone if it was a Norinco HP9-1, he said yes. I get he gun here today and the box has the correct stock # but the gun, after I cleaned the grease off it says Homeland Secuity 780. These are different guns are they not and how is Milarm registering it to me as a HP9-1 when according to everything I have read it is not? I'm going to phone them in the AM and see what they have to say.

RETURN IT!!! OH FOR THE LOVE OF PETE GET RID OF THAT WRETCHED HORRIBLE PIECE OF JUNK.

I too was roped into buying one off here - it too was registered as an HP9-1. It is NOT the same. It's garbage. Junk. Total trash. Sharp edges, TERRIBLE machining, and cycled like it was full of sand. The 'blueing' is awful, and it's a piece of crap.

As noted before in this thread, I have owned MANY MANY HP9's, and thought they were all great guns. I only had that one 'Homeland Security' piece of sheeit, and sold it for a loss.

Seriously - if I bought what I thought was an Hp9 and ended up with that dog-doo from a DEALER, there would be hell to pay! DEMAND a full refund!!!! A 'Homeland Security 780' is NOT NOT NOT a Norinco HP9-1, regardless of what the registration says!!!!

As you can tell, I'm rather passionate about this.
