norinco-97

2. Any rifle, shotgun or carbine stock of the type known as the "bull-pup" design, being a stock that, when combined with a firearm, reduces the overall length of the firearm such that a substantial part of the reloading action or the magazine-well is located behind the trigger of the firearm when it is held in the normal firing position."

Key word here...
when combined with a firearm

The stock is not after market, the rifle is built this way originally, and cannot function without its stock.

BTW the barrel length for the QBZ-97 is 520mm = 20.47 inches, with an OAL of 760 mm = 29.9212 inches.

And from this source (which I believe is more accurate as it is written by Norinco) the barrel length is 490 mm = 19.29 inches, with an OAL of 758 mm = 29.84 inches.

So in both cases it should be non-restricted.

So I'll take one to go with my two 10 round LAR pistol mags thanx.

Dude STFU and read the stickies.

It is restricted because of its barrel lenght.
Spend some money to have a longer barrel made,
inform CFC, and it can be non-res.

Yes, the 97 has a less than 18.5" bbl

No, the type 97 looks longer than TAVOR, the barrel length of type 95 (5.8mm version type 97) is 520mm, their barrel length should be same

Actually I’m interest in type 97 sniper rifle. its semiautomatic, light weight, more accurate than type 97, the Overall length and Barrel length are legal without question. the only thing need to do is pin the magazine from 10 to 5, what is marstar and leverarms waiting for???

Apparently the type 97 in 5.56mm is in production and had been purchased by the outside- and a whole bunch of them. These are type 97-look at the magazine well

Why does Cambodia need new norc's-There are so many guns floating around that country it's actually mind boggling...$30 AK's anyone?

I'd love one of those type 97 or 88's though...

I went to a range in Phnom Penh a few years ago. They had M-16, Thompson, Calico, Ppsh, M3 all in full auto. They also had 12.7mm anti-aircraft, M60 belt-fed, grenades and RPGs. (...for a price...)

This thread grew to gigantic proportions, but we still don't know who will be able to import these beautiful Norincos in either standard or sniper version.

SO THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE DEALERS TO BRING ANOTHER AFFORDABLE GUN TO US CANADIANS.

Dealers,

Please give us some good news since they will not be prohibited. Thanks for all the great advice and comments, but we still need someone to bring them here to Canada.

Regards,
Zygy
