Hi all,

I am looking for a little info on changing the grips on my double stack 1911 to somthing a little thinner, wood would be nice to.

Will the standard (single stack) grips fit on the double stack 1911?

If so, would someone suggest a good place to get grps from?

Thanks,
Cactus

Any 1911 grips will fit the double stack.

I'd recommend caution with stock 1911 grips. If I recall correctly, the frame has grip screw bushings for slim grips instead of standard width. Since the radius of the front strap takes a while longer getting to the sides, the flats are slightly narrower. You might want to get grips that you can sand the edges back a bit.

100% correct. What I did was take 4 regular 1911 single stacks screws which are too long & just shortened them with a fine metal saw.

1911 grips

I purchased my set of double diamond walnut grips from marstar. They fit my MP-28 just fine,I used the stock grip screws as will with no modifications.
