Whichever dissipates the heat better will be my choice, I have both hanging around.

debate.

in winter time, either is good, you just burry it in the snow for a bit...

haha, JK

I would have to agree with savage on the cooling issue. since both have about the same amount of airflow, which is the only thing cooling your gun aside from condensation on a rainy day!

At the price of .308 rounds, I doubt you will shoot that many rounds to be worrying about getting burn from the heat from your M14;)

beside everyone knows the most effective way to cool down a overheated barrel is human urine :D

Most USGI and all Chicom M14 handgaurds are fiberglass with silver "aluminum"Paint on the underside. None dissipate heat, they keep you from burning your fingers on the barrel. Chicom handgaurds seem to be just as tough as USGI Fiberglass handguards. USGI vented handguards may dissipate some heat, however they are fragile and heat mirage from a hot barrel can cause sighting problems, that is why they were replaced in the U.S.military.

I'm sure someone could figure out how to get a "Tactical Fan Attachment" and mount it on a rail on the side of the stock... Also effective in keeping you cool in the summer.....

Id say your good with either or.....

oh damn that sure looked like aluminum, I've never used it
got a (stock + handguard)xUSGI at the same time and put away all norinco stuff so I have not really handled the handguard

I'm just wondering which is the best, but since you mention both are fiberglass, it really doesn't matter

thanks
