so I get the SFRC promotional emails, and today it had this in it:

Norinco 223 Rem/556 NATO Ammo. 55gr, brass cased, 1120 Rounds (two spam
cans) for $299.99

It looks like what is in the country is it for Norinco ammo as the shipping
company won't move ammo out of China any more.

This is concerning. Is it just SFRC's shipper or is it some sort of regulatory change? There is more than one shipper to Canada for this stuff right?

Not trying to cause a panic just wondering if anybody has any more information about this.

In another thread it was the shipping company from China (one single company) shipping ammo to Canada. They stopped. Ammo from Europe, right? Ammo from the USofA, right? Hopefully from South Africa again, anyone remember that .308 ammo from like 5-6 years ago?? Good stuff! There will always be ammo regardless if one source dries up.

Other than in a SHTF world, I wouldn't be found feeding that dirt cheap ammo into any of my AR-15s. I can appreciate that it's not a sport for the light wallet, but still.

Whats wrong with it? I understand that it is typically "hotter" and dirtier than your normal stuff. All the Norinco I have put through my .45 XDm and my SR15 MOD1 have all went bang. It is probably more accurate than I am too.
I am asking a honest question. I am fairly new to the shooting world, not trying to be a ####.

December 1, 2013 the UN-ropelled Firearms Marking systems regulations are set to come into force in Canada.

They stipulate the markings that need to be permanently stamped or engraved on the frame or receiver of all firearms imported into, or manufactured in, Canada.

Domestically manufactured firearms must bear the name of the manufacturer, serial number and “Canada” or “CA”; imported firearms must be marked with “Canada” or “CA” and the last two digits of the year of import (e.g. “12” for 2012).

For retailers to stay in business, this cost can only be absorbed by being passed on to the consumer, and the cost of a new firearm in Canada will skyrocket, perhaps as much as $200 per firearm in the first five years, per estimates.

This is the average cost applicable to any firearm regardless of retail price. It also makes the assumption that the importer can withstand the astronomical set up costs and is still in business.

This means a new firearm retailing at $150 will rise to about $350, while one retailing at $1,000 will rise to about $1,200.

Based upon the 2005 imports, this could result in a net cost to Canada’s firearms industry of approximately $27 million.

Canada has signed, but not ratified, the United Nations Protocol against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, their Parts and Components and Ammunition (UN Firearms Protocol) [2002] and the Organization of American States (OAS) Inter-American Convention against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives and Other Related Materials (CIFTA) [1997].

This UN initiative is intended to stem the flow of firearms across the borders of post-conflict countries like Bosnia, Kosovo and Libya.

Canada has not been in a post-conflict situation for almost 200 years

Please, co-sign my letter to the Ministers on this file and share your thoughts on what should be done with these regulations.

RE: Firearms Marking Regulations

Dear Ministers,

The proposed regulations contained in the Liberal's 2004 Firearms Marking Regulations would have a devastating impact on Canada's firearms industry if implemented.

I am writing to request that you please delay and abolish the implementation of these regulations on Firearms Marking and important restriction.
In addition, ( any thing you want to write goes here)

Canam has stated that ammo from China is no longer being brought in due to some logistical circumstances. SFRC has some of the last cheap Norinco ammo - get it while you can I'd say. If I weren't on the west coast I would have ordered some from them.

LOL! Ammo snob! Just kidding. It is dirty, but hey, you gotta clean your gun anyway. I like inexpensive ammunition.

It's still light years better than Tula, MFS, or any bi-metal ammo for that matter.

I would have to completely agree with this. Norinco is loaded hotter than any of the metal cased stuff. It is also reloadable which in my books is a huge bonus. I have been reloading Norinco cases for years with very few problems.

Ive found little to no difference between norinco ammo and remmington... except the remingtons true 223 where as norinco stuff is loaded to 5.56 specs... not much of a difference, and certainly not making norc stuff inferior in general at all.

that being said,

unless some shipper starts importing into canada again, we will be stuck with the "left overs" from the states for a while, last I checked WE were getting VASTLY cheaper ammo in 223 5.56 then them with the norinco stuff... 45-50c a shot is unfortunately the norm down there right now (at least from what I can tell from brownells, cheaper then dirt, ect ect.. and even at that price they were all sold out when I last checked)

Hi. I was just at whole sale sports today in calgary and they had a few crates of norinco 223/556 left. Didn't see the price. It was the 1120 crate looks like.

The shooting edge also had some crates of 1600 left

ive never had any problem with MFS but ive only shot about 5,000 rounds of it.... this year.
i dont reload so bi-metal dosnt matter to me.

as long as it go boom when i hit the trigger and goes where im wanting it ill take the cheapest stuff to do the job.
1.2 Billion Chinese people cant be wrong!

Scare tactics. Wolf ammo at ill cheap. Do some research sfrc not the only ones that sell ammo

scare tactics.

There must be another load of ammo coming in. They have to sell this batch off quick.

There is no more shortage in the states. There will be a glut soon. American ammo for $399.
