Norinco AR15 questions?

Dunno...got mine couple of weeks ago.

Waiting for damn rain to stop so that I can fire it at local range.

One thing I will say though, I compared the Norc M4 to my Colt AR15, and, to outward appearances, they are so much alike in quality and fit.

Once I take my rainsuit off, I'll be better able to comment on the quality of firing.

Quality

I picked one up today and frankly even for the price I am not impressd by the finish.

The bolt has a lot of black spots on it and similar black spots all over the rifle. Some of it has come out using hoppes; however there is still a significant number that will not come out.

It appears to be either an overspray of sorts or just very poor finish. The carrier handle is also very blotchy and seems to be in the finish and will not come out.

The safety would not operate at all, had to soak it for a while till it finally moved!

Very disappointing, will see how it shoots this weekend.

You could spend about 200 bucks at a gun-smith to get your Norinco M4 properly tuned up, and still be several hundred dollars ahead of the game.

Personally, I decided to go with a Stag, but seeing guys outshoot me (consistently) with Norinco's, I can see that they were able to afford more 'practice' ammo than me...

The Polytech CQA's (released last year) are much better than the Norinco CQ's (released two years ago).

After getting my CQA, I realized the economic future of the world belongs to the Chinese - the quality of that rifle was far better than what I expected for the price.

They are cheap in price, are they cheap in quality?

Mine is excellent, maybe not the quality of a Stag or a Colt, but it functions flawlessly. Where in NB are you located? If you are close to Freddy, come out and try mine before you decide to buy or not. I am pretty sure you'll buy one ;)

Any noticeable difference in accuracy compared to an American AR? What kind of MOA are you guys getting with your Norcs at the range?

I notice that Norinco M4s come with different markings. Some have the "Norinco" logo roll marked; some have the logo applied in a tan paint or etching; and some are just marked CQ or CQA with no logo. What are the differences in these rifles? Are they all the same quality?

We have two, very impressed for the money! They look good and they work! ZERO problems!

Cheers
Jay

I'd take a Norc over some of the low end North American AR's (have owned a Norc, have owned an Armalite, have owned a Colt - not saying they are equal). Frankly the new Bushmasters aren't all that hot, and if it came down to $1400 (locally) for a Bushy or $750 for a Norc, I'm honestly going to take the Norc (actually, I did). That said, I tend toward the idea of building your own AR - not hard to do, and you learn the gun inside out, keep in mind there's not a ton of "investment value" in either a Norc, or a Homebuilt, while a higher end AR will (if kept nice) retain most of it's value. So, if you're going to run it 'till it drops a Norc or a homebuilt is a good way to go, if you're going to treat it like golf clubs a higher end AR might be for you and if you're going to seriously compete, you're going to run a higher end AR - like it was a Norc or a Home built.

Cadgo, "For an extra 150 dollars you can get an American made AR-15.... " these are the NA Ar's that I personally would pass over in reaching for a Norc, there are a lot of good AR's made in the US (and elsewhere) but they aren't available (yet) for $1,000. That may change in the next little while with NEA, I certainly hope so. For now, the cheapest reliable AR I've seen is in the $1400 range (and even in that range you need to chose carefully).

After 3 range sessions I'm 100% satisfied with the rifle itself. It's well finished and totally reliable so far with RRA mags. The only problem I've had so far is a failure to lock back on the last round with one of the original mags that came with it. With the money I saved I got to buy an Ergo grip, some mags, a bore snake, a red dot and of course...ammo.
