Norinco CQ .223 Question

Hi all,

I have a new rifle coming my way sometime soon and have a question. I have heard anecdotally that there is an issue around the robustness of the spring(s), has anyone experienced that yet and if so what do folks recommend in terms of a swap out?

A few people have mentioned swapping the LPK for Stag or DPMS parts, as this will improve the trigger, and ensure you have a lower that is close to spec. I do not know if there is an issue with these components, with the exception of the funky safety (not with function, just looks like an abomination:p). Honestly, just shoot it - I don't see the sense in adding a ton of Stag or DPMS parts - the extra cost would have allowed you to purchase a Stag etc... in the first place. The Norcs are good guns - enjoy them, and spend the money you save on ammo.
 
To my knowledge (several hundred rounds in) there's nothing wrong with the Norc parts, including the springs. I replaced the trigger parts in mine, it has given me a much cleaner trigger, and since I had the parts already the "cost" was basically nothing. I would probably replace the trigger parts again IF the rifle had a gritty, hard trigger. It's cheaper to drop in a hammer, trigger and safety sear than it is to persevere through several hundred rounds with a bad trigger.

After reading your comments I guesss the best thing is to wait and see. I have owned several Norinco handguns and have found them to be quite reliable so fingers crossed lets hope the rifle is as well. Good advice on the trigger though - guess I'll have to go out and put a crap load through it to make that determination.work. work work...:)
 
I believe the first CQ marked and second Nornico marked ones are from different factories. As for which one has more issues, time will tell. I do know the CQ marked ones are from the original plant same as the military selectfire ones.

The original CQ batch comes with military uppers and a full auto BCG, the new Norinco batch is tailored for the civilian market with a semi auto BCG.

Somebody should do a comparison of the 2 with a complete breakdown of the diffrences.
