norinco cq 311

I recently purchased a older CQ 311 20" type. I was wondering if regular furniture off a C7 hand guards will fit this rifle without any other modification? I noticed that the cap just to the rear of the front sight which the handguards fit into is different; the C7 is triangular and the furniture fits snuggly in and out of the cap, while the original CQ furniture is a circular.

If anyone can shed some light on this I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jake

The proper way to to change to American handguards on it is to drift out the taper pins from the front sight base. Remove it so the round cap behind it can come off. Replace with a triangular cap, and put the front sight base back on.

you might want to change the delta ring assembly also. i find/found the norinco assembly realy tight almost to small. should note i am talking about a gi issue triangular hand gaurd, newer c7 types may fit better.

Most handguard caps now are for the A2 barrel profile, the CQ has an A1 barrel profile. Make sure you get the smaller cap for the Norc.

if you get a regular triangle hand gauard cap and replaces the delta ring assembly you should be good to go. not sure if you have to replace the whole delta ring assembly or just the slip ring. but for what it costs what the h*ll. you wont have to worry about it if you have to change again.

Also would a standard delta ring assembly and hand guard cap that you can buy online even work properly on the CQ-311?

I curse Norinco for making this in metric! Then selling it for so agonizingly cheap!

Like I said before any delta ring assembly will work, use the existing barrel nut. For the hand guard cap you need the A1 type.
Here is a pic with a A1 hand guard cap and triangular hand guards.
