Norinco CQ-A and FIREFIELD Carbine Quad Rail

In my experience nothing fits the Norinco Guns Perfectly, they have an oddly shape front hand-guard retainer ring. I had to cut off my A2 sight and replace the retainer ($2.99 part) and the Gas block ( not $2.99) and now anything will fit properly
 
If you don't get an answer on the firefield, I suggest looking at the Guntec USA carbine quad rail. Mine fit without any modifications at all it was a straight drop in and fits perfectly on my CQ-A, it's been installed for a year and half and there's no wobble or play with it.

This is the one I got except in black /www.guntecusa.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_61&product_id=65
I ended up getting it off eBay of all places I lucked out, as it was a seller in Northern BC.

Which one, the Firefield or the Guntec 'worked perfect'?

Flaherty's says a lot of customers bought the Firefield for the CQ-A, and I've heard the NcStar MAR4S fits fine as well. The Firefield was purchased based on that advice; I guess I'll find out in a couple weeks re: Firefield + Norinco fitment and let the forum know.
 
As an update, the Firefield 6.7 inch rail will fit the CQ-A diameter- and length-wise, but in my case there was insufficient clearance for the gas tube on the upper half of the fore end. Once I tightened it down, this caused pressure on the gas tube where it passes through the upper receiver; it bent upward in the receiver and the bolt carrier failed to go into battery. Remedy was to take a small end mill and slightly deepen the gas tube channel at the back of the upper rail half. Not a difficult task if you have a milling machine at your disposal but...FYI.

Other than that, the product is solid and it's about all I'd want to spend for a Norinco upgrade anyway.
