Norinco CQ-A "AR clone" Review

Norinco's are great rifles for money. 1500+ rounds on mine so far with no single issue. Good luck with yours!
here is mine by the way:)

That's exactly what I want. What foregrip/quad rail is that? Did you cut off the front sight or remove it and replace it with a low profile gas block?

Yeah, had to cut off front sight post completely with Dremel tool (20 minutes work). I had a low profile gas block from ctcsupplies ($47CAD ) gifted by friend long time ago so decided to put it on. And rail is new UTG PRO Free Float Rifle Leigh 12.6" (yeah... yeah... I know what they say about UTG, but this new PRO seriers product line they launched work like a charm, light and solid)
So in total around 2-3 hours of work with beer pauses:) Good Luck!

Thanks for the info. :)

norinco should market once close to same price.. maybe just slightly higher with a quad rail from the factory.. think it would sell like crazy

that mag has a wicked angle..

Coupled mags.. Done the recommended way, you get that angle. Takes a bit of ghettoing, but you can couple them so they are nice and almost straight. Busted a couple of tabs on my mags with that though... Still willing to risk it again just to save on the belt real estate. If everything pans out, I might just need a single mag pouch and that'll net me 40rds.

can the front iron sight triangle assembly be removed without cutting it off? I'd like to buy one, but would want to make it a flat top.

I took the minigrinder with a cut off disc and cut off the front sight posts just above the gas block. Took a dremmel with a sanding drum and cleaned it up then painted it. Way faster and cheaper than taking out pins and driving it off then putting a new block on. Added bonus is you can still mount a bayonet on the lug :p.

Second added bonus - there's no way in gods green earth that the Norc block will shift or shoot loose, regardless of what you do with it. That's something that can't be said for the majority of aftermarket gas blocks.

I'll be doing this for the first time so excuse the newb question but how do you remove the gas tube especially if the free float quad rail requires a new barrel nut? Thanks.

By the way guys, I have a carbine leingh quad rail (non free float)
If some one need it can give away for $40 + shipping.
Here how it looked on my 2nd Norinco:

I tried a few different ways and just didnt like the way they were together. If I had the time and more importantly the motivation, I would make my own coupler with no angle so these ones with the angled bottom plate would flow nicer. ALSO, if I didnt have bad experiences with the others that have a square bottom plate and grey followers, I would just buy a bunch of those ones amdbe done with it.
