Just for viewing fun, as well as for a bit of a reference for anyone interested in purchasing one of these rifles, the following photos are of my new Norinco CQ-A, which arrived today. Hopefully the pictures and my very brief preliminary will be of some assistance.

Upon first handling, and fairly cursory inspection, the rifle appears to be very solid and generally looks and feels well made. However, it is also noticeably utilitarian in finish and has in my opinion, unnecessary tooling marks in a number of areas. However, I also knew in advance that the CQ was not going to be in the same fashion show as my oldest son's AR, so... I suppose that for the price difference, I shouldn't be too picky.

If my impressions seem jaded, that may stem from the fact that a few months back, I purchased a new Norinco NP22 from Marstar and have really been impressed with how nice the gun looks, handles, and performs. My guess is that this CQ-A was most likely made much earlier than the NP22, and in a different factory entirely. The magazines look and feel cheap, and at the moment are a bit snug fitting. They are also both much too scratchy sounding for comfort. The mags are disappointing at best and will probably end up being replaced very soon.

I haven't had the opportunity to shoot the rifle yet, and with Christmas knocking on the door and work still interfering with playtime, I may not be able to do so until boxing day... However, my youngest son and I are anticipating a plethora of plinking to finish off 2010, at which time I will update this posting. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the photos.

I have the same toy from the same place and I am happy with it. It really is great for the money invested. If you want to part with the mags I might be inclined to take them off your hands, as I like the ones that came with mine :D

Ahhhhhhhhhhh whyyyyyyy must I be so broke??? That looks great, it must feel awesome knowing a box full of Norc CQA joy arrived at your door...I cannot wait till I get, or should I say till I have the money for one of my one. I had the luck to shoot one before, it just made me want it more :(

Wait for it......and the next question will be "how do you put the sling on" Just kidding, I to am a Nork owner and like seeing others get one.

LOL I had the sling on mine properly, took it off then couldn't get it on again LOL. It never really worked well just going to ditch it for something better.

norinco

Did that Norc. actually come with a chrome bolt? or is it just a finish they applied to it? Nice kit to get you started for $700. Welcome to the "eternally shoping for goodies club" Soon to be changed to "empty wallet club" A sling, optic of some sort,a case of ammo, Oooh a quad rail, and and and and...
ENJOY the hell out of it

Quick question about your mags, are they pinned with rivets? at 5, or did they block them another way? my RRA came with with riveted mags?

If you check out the photo you will see that they are blocked at 5. I haven't taken the mags apart as yet to look into the matter further.

Call me blind......but I do not see in the photos how the mags are blocked at 5

these sad old eyes, just don't see it....
