Norinco cq-a arrived today

You'll enjoy your AR i'm sure. One thing i realize now is that mine was NIB but didn't have the 2 CQ norc mags but a 5/20 Bushmaster. I purchased NHMTG S/42 5/30's and LAR 10s and they all function flawlessly in everyway. When you say they are cheap , do you think they will be reliable? I am totally impressed with the CQ and now want the M14S.:agree:

I just put another hundred rounds through mine today.
No issues and very accurate.
It is definitely the best $700 I've ever spent on a gun.

The stock mags are crap. I haven't had an issue with feeding but they just don't measure up in terms of feel while holding or loading. Don't judge the rest of the gun by the mags though.

I got a pair of LARs and they work great. Highly recommend them.

Call me blind......but I do not see in the photos how the mags are blocked at 5

these sad old eyes, just don't see it....

OK... You were absolutely right! I should have looked at the magazine a bit closer, as I assumed originally that the punched out section on the left side was somehow blocking the follower. However, upon checking it out with a flashlight through the small opening at the top front of the follower, I discovered that there was a thin piece of metal approximately 1/4" width X 3/4" length X 1/8" depth which was spot welded internally against the front of the magazine.

With a little bit of mechanical engineering I discovered a similar piece of metal spot welded at the same depth on the inside rear of the magazine. Hopefully the diagram translates better than my words.

Hopefully this answers your question... it was definitely an education for me.

I keep hearing that the Norc mags are crap but little on why they are crap. Mine seem to feed fine and that is what they are meant to do.

That being said, I tried Pmags and I like those. I have a half dozen now for participating (can't really say competing :D) in CQB. That way they all feel the same and I have put the Pmag ranger plates on each. The biggest disadvantage to them that I can see is that they don't have an anti-tilt follower.

However, I still have my Norc CQ mags for spare. Actually I am using one for dry fire practice after slipping a penny under the feed lips. Makes it quick and easy to re-#### without the carrier locking in place, and I can practice prone mag supported, or CQ hold with my hand at the front of the receiver.

Mine too. Did you buy it from Elwood Epps?

MY CQ just came in yesterday! Pleasantly surprised. A hell of a bang for your buck.
BUT, how the HELL does the sling work? I think I'll email John at Marstar and ask him to do a youtube vid on how that damn thing is supposed to work.

BTW, Popeyedpete, I also picked up the NP22. Very impressed with the finish. But the double action trigger pull is sooo hard, I need 2 index fingers to get it to work. Did you find this in your NP22 as well? Does it get lighter with use?

Danimal247 will testify that these Norc CQA's rock our worlds in the Service CQB matches this past Oct 2010 Championship!

One great thing about the Norc M4 is that you have some money left over to "Magpul" up your AR so that you can crank up the LCF (looks cool factor) at our matches. :D

Just ask pobcat... he's lurking here somewhere!

He's here with Dudley2112 in their winning form!

Come and get some of that with yer Norc M4 :ar15:

Get ready for an exciting season of 2011 !

Merry Chrismukka to all!

Beat me and my expensive CQB :D but I don't mind, I wouldn't trade my CQB for anything

YES....lurking in the shadows cou: ready to take another season by storm :D

Enjoy the hell out of that Norc, replace the charging handle, install an accuwedge and your good to go :)

How well do these things group at 100m? Now you've started to convince me to buy one and join the population lol Congrats on the gun!

Mine groups 2MOA at 100 yards (10 shots - scoped) but I have only tried MFS 55 Gn cheap ammo. I have been spending all my money on mags and holsters and rigs for CQB so I have not started hand loading yet.

Thanks for replying and they seem pretty good groups, fantastic groups with the given ammo. Now that you've mentioned it, I have a feeling I don't know what I'll be getting myself into since I too would probably blow a lot of money on the "extras" haha :D

Zokzoka mine seems to like the UMC 55s FMJ. I dont have it scoped and have only zeroed at 50 for the 200 yd sight down 4 zero.:agree:

a quick off topic question. Does anyone know how long the ATT usually takes to get for your 1st time restricted firearm? I dont know if being in Quebec changes anything. But man its been 4 weeks and still no ATT.

I want my AR-15! lol

Pretty much a given. So many widgets and toys and so many options on each. It's like an addiction. I'm working hard on not buying stuff just cause it looks cool, and I am winning....at least for now. Of course I do check EE now several times a day to see what AR parts are floating around for grabs. ;)
