norinco CQ-A

Got mine about a year ago and am very impressed with it. Last week shot a 4 inch 5 shot group on an IDPA target at 100 with the stock open sights. Worst problem is finding the front sight and distinguishing between which of the 3 posts to use. Need a Day Glow or scope on it. Runs flawlessly.
 
Well mine goes bang every damn time. The fit and finish is more than acceptable for an issued firearm. Buy one and spend the rest of the money on shooting it until it falls apart. By then you should know what else you might want in a new AR.
 
Just ordered my first AR. A Norinco CQ-A. I cant wait!! $529 with free shipping. Very rare to see them under $700 in the west any more. So I jumped on it.
 
does anyone here know how to put the sling together? The one's that come with the CQAs. I think its suppose to be a 3 point but i cant figure it out. I don't have a PhD in norinco slings.
 
And yah, don't listen to the detractors and AR-snobs. The Norinco Rifles work great, and are an excellent value. I honestly don't notice any difference in performance or accuracy between my "20 CQA and my A2 style colt.
 
For years I avoided Norinco's, I thought they couldn't possibly be any good. Finally decided to get an NP29 in 9mm. It turned out to be a great gun, never had any problems with it.

I just picked up a CQA and I'm anxious to try it out. Now I need to get a membership for another range as my home club only allows .22 rifle

For north american military standard, DEFINITELY NOT.....for some country maybe in the middle east or south america which have virtually no money, then yes. A true military grade AR will not be 500$. Is the norc a good plinker and starter rifle, sure it is. Is it a battle proven/ reliable firearms that would pass military testing, nope

Nope... It's an adequate starter for an plinking hobbyist. The production tolerances are a little sloppy, and SOMETIMES spec parts won't fit without work. Military grade rifles don't have that problem.

Whenever I'm asked about Norinco (anything) my response is the same: buy four, keep the one that runs well and is accurate, and sell the other three. If that's not your cup of tea spend a few more dollars and get something you can have a little more confidence in... The cost of ammo for a month or two will get you into a decent American made AR like a CORE15, Windham, or even DPMS. CORE has the advantage of a transferable lifetime "No B.S." warranty. The cost of a few months more ammo will get you into a very good AR like a Daniel Defense. Reliable in Vancouver (site sponsors) have the DPMS Oracle on for $799, which is only a couple hundred more than a Norc.

If you're going to keep it for a long while you might as well spend a few dollars and get something to last.

Mine has crappy painted touch ups, rough machining where it doesn't really matter and cost a fraction of any other AR style rifle. It has yet to fail to go 'bang' when intended. Weigh your priorities.
 
Well, i fail to understand the requirements CQA fails to meet a mill spec gun . My bad perhaps. but what else you guys wanna CQA do to become a military gun .
