i wrote an answer for you but i don't know why it is not here. norincos are good if you can get one cheap. the barrels are super nice and chrome lined. i did find that not all bolts will fit the barrel extentions i nthe norc. i had a colt bolt and it would not fit. so if you do the upper you will have to have a norc bolt that is just fine or make sure it will fit before you buy one. other then that every thing else was in spec.
I just bought my first AR, a Norinco CQ-A. A buddy recommend it. I have no complaints. It works well and cost me little. The only thing I just had to improve was the gritty trigger. I stoned the parts and now the trigger is good.
I ran a complete Norc 10.5 upper on a Stag lower - ran perfectly and was as accurate as I am out at 200 yds standing unsupported. Fit of the upper to the lower was actually better than a coupe of Colts I've owned - nice and snug with no wobble of any kind. Well worth what you pay for them.
