Norinco CQ-A

Damn! I just bought a new 10.5 from a sponser and it has the triangle with the CQ in it. I thought all the new ones were anodized?

dont worry, some sponsors still use the old picture for there norc advertising but sponsors rifles are all the new version.

The polytech version with the triangle was also anodized.
You have to go back many years to the 20" M 16 version to get a painted one.

I just got mine about an hour ago and I'm am impressed with what I have. It is my first AR and I must admit I wasn't looking to get a Norc, but after getting and liking my M305 I figured why not. I can't wait to get out and try her out!

"But I have a question about this new rifle.

All the after market parts did manage to fit in with a little work here and there. Had to remove some material from the parts to make the perfect fit. Not much but a little. But that was kind of expected.

Now the only problem I see is the bolt and BCG... I tried my Stag, LMT, Armalite and bushmaster BCG and none of them will fit or function on this Norinco. Looks like the barrel extension and bolt lugs are out of specs. Again that was someting I knew it could happen. Now my problem is... Looks like only a Norinco bolt and carrier will fit in there unless I change the barrel extension and even then I have no guarantee that it will function properly or fit the actual barrel.

Do you guys have any customer feedbacks about this issue? What would be my part replacement ( spare parts ) source then? Is Norinco have BCG for sale out there?

Thank you very much! "

So have you guys tried it with another brand BCG? Try it and let me know if it works. Mine do not. Just got it and it's a new model. Anodized CQ-A-1 10.5"

UPDATED!!!!
NEVERMIND!! **** My gunsmith inspected the rifle:

All brand BCG do fit perfectly in the upper. Bolt lugs do fit and function well in the barrel extension locking system. The problem is the gas tube not lining up right with the gas key. Looks like the Norinco gas key hole sits about 1mm more high. That is why my other brand BCG did not want to go fully forward. So basically bringing the gas tube down a little will fit any brand BCG. Now how to do this is another story. If you have any info on this pass it on.

Cheers.

I've tried an NEA BCG in my Norinco and it functioned without issue. I only remember one other CGN member with issue's where a BCG of another name brand didn't fit in their Norinco CQ. I don't think this is a common issue.

Well the gas tube diameter is a little oversize to fit in other gas key... Nothing serious I guess.

Has anyone directly compared the anodized and painted finishes? Frontier Firearms got stock a couple weeks ago of new 14.5" CQs, but now they list them specifically as painted finish.

I know of another retailer that may have the anodized finish, but their customer service and warranty help is likely to be worse than Frontier.

Is there also an easy way to tell if the finish is anodized or painted when inspecting the rifle in person?

They are all annodised, just some have clear anno with paint and some have the colour right in the anno. un annodised al would last long as an ar reciever.
