Anyone put a collapsible stock on a Norinco CQ? How?

Has anyone done any other cool mods? Have any pictures?

CQ's are metric guns. All available replacement stocks are not. We did create a carbine from one last year but the owner just forced the butt tube in and turned it. I tried to remove it to straighten out a piece that was bent and couldn't budge it. Non metric tube screwed into metric hole means weld!
I do not recommend this conversion.

consider the CQ a starter gun. to see if you like the AR first. when you do decide you need more, buy a real one to do the wiz-bang stuff to. sell the CQ for the money to buy the accessories.

I've built up two ARs from a pair of Norinco lower receivers I got from Joe Dlask. After he hard anodised the lowers, they looked pretty decent. I put in Armalite lower kits, and used the original buffer tubes with an ACE and a YHM skeleton stock. I have no use for the collapsible AR stocks so never cared about the thread pitch issue [Non metric tube screwed into metric hole means weld! ]

If you really want to do this, Joe Dlask can rethread your lower to take the standard pitch buffer tubes.

I used Oly Arms flatop uppers, which usually fit TIGHT. One is in .223 with a 14.5" Dlask hvy barrel, scope AND Eotec mounted on a full length OLY handguard, Phantom flashider, VFG, etc. Looks and shoots about the same as any of the dozens of other AR 15s I've built from kits. One advantage is theat the NORC lowers have the mag wells hogged out properly to take the Mil Surp plastic mags ... not all aftermarket lowers do.

As usual, your mileage may vary, but I am very happy with my two Norc/US bastards.

i installed a stop screw under the trigger. after retaping the grip bolt hole to 1/4x20 installed a allen screw up thru the hole and put a new rear grip on with a 1/4x20 allen head bolt retaped the front site hole to take a standerd ar frount site and installed an allen screw up thru the bottem of the newly taped hole to stop any wiggel now its soild as a rock. trimed the ejetor spring so now the brass goes forwad about a 12 14 inches and falls. i had to change the bolt as the fireing pin hole was out of spec (to large). :D

Ill be getting one soon. Waiting waiting waiting...

You wont be sorry. I love mine. Great rifle. I got a bunch of the cheap 5/30 Canadian mags for $25. I also got one of the carry handle scopes from Marstar but havent tried it yet.

I put an A2 grip on mine using the original screw- no problems.

I dont really mind the other furnature but might consider raplacing all of it over time. I bought the M9 bayonet for it though - got to have that.

the reson that i retaped mine was to install the allen screw to limit the sear engagement. ie less take up. it goes in the same hole as the hand grip bolt.

I know that this has probably been ased and answered several times, but where does one purchase a Norinco CQ? I'm looking for an inexpensive AR type rifle to plink with (we don't have a really nice rifle range withing driving distance) so I don't need amazing accuracy. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
