A muzzle brake won't improve accuracy. At all. The only way to get 'good' accuracy with a mini-14 involves a lot of $$$$.

basically i'm just looking for something my fiancee can fire easily (.223), something that i can easily customize and something that is portable enough to take camping. How reliable is the ar-180b when it comes to jamming?

where i "go camping" REQUIRES a heck of a lot more gun than a 223- something on the order of a 12 guage with slugs for BEARS- the odd cougar may show up, and the 338 is too big and clumsy - nothing else in the woods requires shooting unless it's in rut or agressive-moose and elk

I use my Mossberg 500 as a defense when i go camping, but I would like something for my fiancee to be able to shoot that does more damage than a .22 but won't knock her on her ass.

I'm pretty sure a .223 will only make the bear want to kill you even more.

anyways, is this supposed to be a plinking or defense gun?

Just plinking, if I wanted to kill a bear I'd use my Remington or Mossberg

A ballistic tip .223cal. will do a lot of damage. A few shots may be required for a bear if it comes to that. ( semi-auto lover )

I agree. Bears are pretty thinned out from hibernation and it would be just a matter of a well placed shot or two. From my experience, I'd still prefer my mossberg 590a1 with magazine loaded with slugs. For a woman of average size, I'd equip her with a 20g shotgun with slugs, still kicks but when it's a matter of survival, she'll get over the bruised arm.
