good morning,

i have a cq311, happy with it so far. changed the butt, hand gaurds and pistol grip to gi m16a1. had to change the front cap and the delta ring assembly. had to use the norinco top butt screw and pistol grip screw. was wondering will gi or u.s. ar15 parts fit the 311? other then any threading witch i assume will be all metric? thinking on getting some spares and maybe slowly replace all parts to gi. parts like take down pins, BOLT PARTS, ect? or has anyone retapped threads to take u.s. parts? any input would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

regards, king66

Hi King66, I am in the process of changing the buttstock on my CQ 311 as well. It looks like they used some kind of "lock tight" product for the freaking tube. Did you had the same problem?

For the cost of a used Colt Hbar, or a new RRA or Stag Arms AR15, it might be cheaper to leave the CQ311 as it is and just get a new or used actual USGI grade american rifle.

All threads are metric on the CQ311. If you want to put a U.S. barrel on the reciever you need to use the Chinese barrel nut. Other than that, if you want to put a longer U.S. GI type butt stock you can simply tap the end of the existing butt tube to 1/4 28, thats the same thread pitch as on the pistol grip (U.S.) but I've just used the Chinese one in most cases.

to change just the butt (gi m16a1) i just slipped it on and used the norinco screw and tube. i think the a1 butt is a lttle shorter then a a2. also had to change the front hand gaurd cap to a triangular to put on a gi triangular. will be changing the delta ring assembly as the norinco one is a bit small. would like to get spare parts or/and change most of the smaller parts to u.s. civi/gi as time goes by. i understand threaded parts are metric but will the other parts interchange? thanks fella's.

Thanks for the pics Fabrice, it did help me alot. Now here are some pics of my Norinco CQ-311. The reason why i am posting them is because the previous owner of this rifle did change the hand guard on it but this hand guard is loose toward the end. What can i do to solve this problem?

Cut a foam earplug, and put the pieces on either side of the handguard inside the handguard cap. It worked for my old CQ311. :)
