My Norinco CQA does not feed Winchester whitebox HPs.

They seem to hang up their bullet tips on the feed ramp.

Is there anything that I can do to make it feed or should I just restrict it to FMJs which it feeds flawlessly?

I tried searching for this but came up with zip.

I ran a almost a case of PPU HP's through my Stag without a hiccup. I would say your feed ramps aren't machined very well or the Winchester ammo doesn't have enough power to cycle the action all the way too the back causing short stroking.

is that the 45 grain 'value pack' of 40 rounds? if so, my old CQ311 wouldnt feed it either, and neither would a friends bushmaster. its very picky about the feed ramps. I had several where it actually drove the bullet fully back into the case.

The Norc has M4 feed ramps. The feed ramps were designed for full auto fire since the mag spring can't push the ammo up fast enough to feed 100%. That's why its so steep, to make up for the non consistency of the mag feeding...hence it will mangle a HP projectile ;) stick to FMJ and you will be fine

Thanks, good thing I only bought 2 boxes of HPs. :)

The last box of WWB 45 grain JHP that I had, they had a big warning on the side that they are not to be used in semi-autos. Bullet gets pushed back into the case upon loading, which can make for a nasty firing cycle.

You might wanna run them through a crimping die... I noticed they are barely holding on in there!

THey've been hit and miss for me too - more often than not, they hang up in my AR's.

There was at least one documented kaboom from exactly that with with same ammo a few years ago.

Single loading should be OK, but I stopped buying that stuff myself. The savings weren't worth the potential problem.

Now I`m right curious to see how my 68 Gn BTHP loads feed in my Norc. The feed find from my DPMS but it`s a heavy barrel 223 and I haven`t bothered to check if it has M4 feed ramps.

I will check a couple after feeding to make sure they bullet is not getting pushed. I don`t want an earth shattering Kaboom.

Do you have a pic of the M4 feed ramp cuts where they mate with the upper receiver? I'm wondering if they didn't relieve the receiver properly.

If you pick up the "Book of the ar15" published annually by Guns and Ammo, specifically the 2010 edition, there is an article in there about the Larue OBR. Make sure to look at the feed ramps it uses (really nice stuff), its says that even using M4 feed ramps with FMJ will throw off the bullet seating and diminish accuracy....now only if we could have the fun switch on out AR's to justify those ramps :p
