OK.

Although I may be a bear of little brain, I figured that I should be able to figure out how to hook up the factory sling that came with my cool new CQ-A (Thanks Marstar!)

After more than an hour or fiddling around with it last night I finally gave up. Went to the internet for help.... Cannot find a single resource which shows how this bad boy is meant to be configured. The problem is the little metal clips (seen in the photos). I have no idea how to make them work in conjunction with the other buckles etc.

Has anyone out there made this work? I am thinking of just tossing it, and buying something.

Easy to fix, take the sling throw it in the nearest garbage can.

Buy a new one, Blue Force, Magpul, etc....

Sorry, they are garbage slings.

"AR slings come in many options. I have never liked a 3-point hitch, as I'm afraid of falling down and getting entangled in all of the straps. Two-point slings are amongst the most comfortable; attached at the muzzle or on the forearm rail and butt end of the rifle." John J. Woods, contributing editor Gun Digest "Modern Shooter" Colt Edition, Spring 2014 issue.
This guy writes and shoots for a living and is a college instructor.

Having grown up with the military style loop sling, I still find it the most efficient for accurate shooting from any position, but not quick or easy to disengage from.

I think a lot of people jumping on the AR bandwagon have to have the coolest looking combat accessories used by the big dogs without having a clue on to how to use them.
The KISS principle would seem to apply with regard to slings as it does with most things.

As far as 3pt slings go the norc'off is pretty good, I don't mind it at all.

.....buuuut.... I gave it up for a single point bunjee with the ASAP plate for its "cool" factor... My tapco'd sks that I carry more then my wallet has an actual functional and practical 5.11 Vtac adjustable on it.

Go ahead... Get yer mawll ninja awn!

Yep. Was determined to make it work even though I had no intentions of keeping it on the rifle. I failed.

Single point sling and the ASAP plate was the fix. Happy now.

After a while of trying to figure it out, I ended up with the set up like in the link, Still doesn't work well. Just get a new sling or not use one at all... Not like we can take them for a nice walk in the woods anyways.

Only having used the sling that came with the C7 I used in the reserves in the 90's this one confused me, looked at the picture, tried it route it as shown, didn't seem to make sense. Then after trying to use the sling as a support wrapped around my elbow I put the lower loop over my head on the right and the loop down under my left arm. Seems to work assuming when lowered and released the rifle is supposed to hang on the left side of my chest pointing downward. If it's not I did it wrong lol.

Buy like ten VCAS slings to save on shipping each new one you'll want every time you buy a new rifle. 3 point slings are for mall ninjas who know every carry position off by heart but have never used more than 2. Don't be a mall ninja.

So what does everyone like? One point or Two point?

I never had a problem with a one point, but I have heard that if you are really short, or you're moving a lot with a good amount of gear, one point is a pain in the butt.

Single point slings are for PDW's - anything over 7.5 inches deserves a 2 point sling - if only to prevent you from digging a muzzle divot when you transition and go to a low shooting position.
