Is this a typical flash hidder on a M305.

Should there not be slots in it ?

The slots were not cut all the way through because these rifles were originally intended for sale in USA.

Under liberal scumbag President Clinton, laws were passed that banned import of military style rifles that had (if I recall correctly) more than 3 "military" features. These included things like separate pistol grip, bayonet lug, flash hider, and so on.

Later on Chinese guns were banned from US importation entirely, so now for as long as it lasts Kanada gets all that are left. All with the unfinished flash hiders.

No, some may not have the slots cut (earlier ones?) but mine and most everyone elses have them.

Okay so I want to change this smooth bore barrel extension called a flash hider.

Would it be better to install a muzzle brake or a flashhidder?

I am leaning towards a muzzle brake as I feel it would help with the muzzle lift but would like to hear suggestions?

I am going to try one of the Smith brakes on my M305 shorty to make followup shots quicker. I understand they are very effective. Not sure how much added noise there would be though.

USGI FS are available if you look around some. You have to re-use the Norinco castle nut though because the Norinco barrel is threaded with a metric thread. Other than that, they fit perfectly :)

Mine isn't much louder than it was stock (I went with the Vortex and an 18.5 barrel) and the return to target is ridiculously fast. I am able to almost rapid fire and still keep the sights on target.

That is fantastic news. I want to use this rifle for "Practical Rifle" and I know it won't be as fast to a second shot as an AR-15. I have so far resisted buying an AR-15 type because I can't bear the thought of not being able to shoot it in the woods.

Thanks for the info.
