So what do you guys think the chances are of seeing norinco or another company make a canadian legal FN FAL. I know I would love to have one as would most of us would arent liceinced for the real deal.*

Any rumours floating around ?*

Cheers, McLean

Isnt it prohibited because its so easy to convert to auto ? Ive heard if you removed the selector switch it works on auto. Also there are companies who make the mg 34 and mp 40s which are "repros" and are built to be only possible in semi auto. So if they did the same with that model.... Perhaps we could get them.

Or is there more reasons that im missing ?

Thanks, mclean

No its specifically named as prohibited. Has nothing to do with anything other than somebody thought it was offensive looking.

You are 1000000% dead on.... When they name a firearm and include variants threof, thats it, no way around it....

If there was a way I would have a market for all those brand new FALs I Own.

Might I suggest you travel a bit, see the rest of the world out there.... You may change your mind about Canada, we have a damn good deal going on here....

+1. I like my M14 that I own better that the SLR I had on loan from Her Majesty.

John is correct, there are more important things then our toys, like clean running water and such. If you want to live in Africa you can own whatever guns you want but you will have to take your morning dump in a ditch.

Sorry guys, dont get me wrong I love this country. I appreciate all things we have, sometimes our laws just get to me.

I was just venting, I apoligize.

What we need, is some super smart machinist to make a FAL STYLE (Not variant) upper or lower that is a completely different design to take the FAL upper (or lowers, whatever is the non-firearm) from the ones John form marstar owns.

Yeah i agree, next year ill be moving to colorado to take gun smithing and manufacturing at the college in lakeview. Hopefully in the years to come i may be able to make one for us all.

Simply make something else that is 'similar' in appearance and call it the M-306 or other nomenclature that does not have anything in relation to the FAL design and they'd be good - ala M-305.

Yeah thats seems resonable, i wonder if it would pass. Or even a .22 variant like the ppsh or thompson kits. However that would be one giant and heavy .22 haha

Now several months (years?) ago someone announced a 308 rifle that looked very close to the FAL. I believe it was Magpull? I just remember seeing a CAD drawing or something like that.

Mrclean89,

It is in LakeWOOD, Colorado. Personally, I think the gunsmithing program at Trinidad State Junior College in Trinidad, Colorado is a better program. And that not just because I went there. Lakewood is too close to Denver, too many people and NOT Colorado. Trinidad is a small town and if you can ignore the strange operations that are done there a nice place.

I put the MOE grips on my Norc M4 because it reminds me of the FN. A wannabe based on the AR180B or SKS with adapters to take FN stocks and foregrips could be done, but as Norinco can’t sell to the States and the US already full of FN’s and in love with AR’s. It’s unlikely you will have a market big enough to justify the expense. The FN was a great rifle, but not the end all and be all. Even FN with their new 7.62x51 semi-auto rifle made it so FN mags won’t work in them.
