Norinco Greatness

Norinco pistols are pretty popular in Canada and many people hate them and relegate them as inferior or garbage.
I just bought my third one recently. They've all been great shooters and a great value with accuracy that rivals or beat others costing 4 times more.
I bench rested mine yesterday and achieved match grade accuracy from my NP22 at 25 yards.
How many Norc owners here are getting superb accuracy?

My Norc 1911 was no less accurate than my STIs, the finish was not as fine but functioned perfectly.
My Norc AR was as reliable if not more than my other ARs, and shot well out to 500m.
My 8.5 Grizzly was stronger than my 870, was a fun little gun.
My NS522 is a fine bolt rimfire.

Hope this doesn't turn into a gong show thread, but the topic will no doubt invoke many emotional and predictable responses.

I have an np29 that shot well stock and with a custom fitted EGW bsrrel bushing it shoots even better , especially in the hands of a better shot than me. :)

No problems every with any of my Norincos. I have owned a couple of pistols, a ar15 and a DA Outlaw. Fit and finish were only average but I knew that buying them. Functionality has been excellent across the board.

My Norc sig shoots better than my u.s made "genuine" sig. And don't even get me started on the Norc Mauser trainer.

Lack of "pride of ownership" is the main reason I have zero now. They work fine, shoot fine but look.... meh. I am at the point that I would rather have less superb guns than more "okay" ones.

And, no, I dont care where it is made. This iphone I am typing on is made in China and is superb.

Waiting on my first; NZ85B. Almost never see used ones coming up for sale; almost everyone sold out; and I have been impressed with both the JW .22 rifles and the Scorpio. Scorpio is finished as good as anything else available, even if the stock is a bit chincy, it is only a 230 dollar rifle. I am confident I made a good choice for something I'm going to shoot the heck out of!

I love the da grizzly for the price and have owned and do own several. I just made a trade for a my first da ar15 so I guess I will see what those are all about.
Everytime I see a norinco 1911 copy on the ee I consider it. The horror stories of the rough edges are the only thing that keeps me away.

I have a 1911A1 .45ACP and a NP29; both are stock and shoot great with crisp trigger pulls. Bought extra MEC-GAR mags for both and they function great. Only thing is the NP29 barrel bushing is a bit short and the wiggle play cants the barrel a bit to the right and the nice tight groups just land about 1 1/2 " to the right of bulleyes. On the bright side i get to reuse the same target by just rotating it 180 degrees. Going to replace the bushing with a longer one like the Fusion small ID bushing if i can get my hands on one; very hard to get.

I've owned many a Norc.
So far these all ran like a top and blew me away with accuracy/reliability:
1. Norc 1911A1
2. Norc M305 (owned 2 now over the years, slight tinkering and they are amazing)
3. Norc CQB AR15
4. Norc Mag Fed Grizzly 12ga Pump
5. Currently have a Norc 1:9 20" pencil barrel on my prized M16A1 clone.
I've also fired many of the other popular Norc guns in Canada including their P226 clone which actually shot more accurately and just as reliably as my actual German Sig.....
The only duds I've ever experienced from them were:
1. JW14 (Squires and Bingham .22LR clone) just utter garbage, trigger seized up, sear wouldn't release, the metal it was made of literally crumbled when I tried to fix it.
2. T97 first gen....just....disappointment all around.

My best assessment is this; the Norc clones of the military/police firearm models are outstanding.
But when they try to butcher/modify a designs into new iterations of them (T97 Canadian version) or clone old sporting rifle models, things can sometimes go...sideways.

Honestly though bang for buck I fackin' love my Norc guns. Their M14's are amazing.

It is so true the m305s make those m1a clones look like junk. It is almost laughable they call themselves springfield armory.
On a separate note, I think the 223 version of t97 is miles away from the 5.8 mil t95s. the conversion really doomed the t97s.

Bollox,
I like the look and feel and finish of my American made 1911. I understand the pride of ownership. But that gun has been out for warranty due to bad accuracy from the beginning. Hard to have the pride of ownership when spending 4x more only got me good looks.

I love my Norc 1911, and my M305.

The 1911 is my favourite firearm I own.

I actually have more fun with Norc guns because they're cheap. The cost to fun ratio is far better. Besides that, nice things can cause me stress because I want them to stay nice cause they're expensive. When I spend less, I don't care if I scratch it. It's just fun.

I thought I wanted an M305 so a friend offered me one. I tried it but decided to pass. Nothing wrong with the Norcness of it, especially at the price, I just found I don't like the M14 enough. Probably spoiled by several years with the FN FAL, if Norinco made those and we were allowed to have them, I would. .
