My 'new' Israel Arms / Norinco 1911C (see http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=112032 for more info on these). Bought it 'new in box, unfired' a few weeks back, but just got around to getting some pics. Haven't had it to the range yet, but hopefully will tomorrow :D Shown below with my parked Norc 1911C... if the IAI is as good as my other one, I'll be ecstatic :D:D:D

Let us know how she stacks up against your 1st gen Norc compact there.

I just shot my 2nd gen Norc compact on the weekend. Great little pistol. Had one of the previous series before but I like my new one a tad better. Eats up the Fiocchi factory .45ACP JHP's like there's no tomorrow, too. And of course 230 gr FMJ feeds/functions flawlessly, also.

Interested on how your two-tone Israeli compact shoots...

Range Report

Finally, a range report. I've had it out a couple of times now; and here's my summary:

  • Trigger: nice, smooth, clean break... but despite Armco's work on it, the trigger isn't as nice as the Wilson Combat trigger I had on my other one. Guess I should've swapped triggers before I sold the other one, huh?? ;)
  • Accuracy: more accurate than I am!, which is to say, that I've done as well with it as with any other handgun I've shot
  • Function: functions flawlessly, with the exception of one Colt mag that it doesn't seem to like...

Overall, I'm really happy with it.

I had the same problem but I found that it was the mag and not the gun. I have two colt mags and they didn't eject properly because the lip of the mag (sorry don’t know all the part names but the little step where the bullet is seated) that catches on the mag release wasn’t making contact with the mag release. A minute with a pair of pliers to flay it out a little bit more and it functions just like the factory mags if not better.

The colt mag works, but won't hold the slide open. The McCormicks, (2 mags same problem) worked up till the 2nd to last rd, where it would load the round but prevented the slide from going fully forward, disabling the gun, even though the slide appeared to be fully forward, removing the mag and re-inserting it cleared the problem. I tried them in a Nork Government and they worked fine.

Colt mag

Huh, so I'm not the only one, it seems. All of my other mags work 100%, but my one and only Colt mag neither feeds the first couple of rounds properly, nor does it lock the slide back... which is odd, as it functioned just fine in my older Norc 1911c.

weird.

With the slide off the McCormicks were slightly higher than the stock mags, also the bullet angle in the mag is different.
