I had first hand experience with Products from China North industries (Norinco). Years ago, I bought a rifle called a JW 105, a .223 bolt action rifle. It was cheap so what the hey, why not invest the 300 or so bucks into something that I can scope and hunt coyotes with? I took delivery of said rifle, gave it a thorough cleaning then took the rifle to the range and loaded up two rounds of 55 gn FMJ to see how the action tested. I fired the first round and tried to turn the bolt up and pull the bolt to the rear. it was very stiff, so I tried the next round. It fired okay, but this time I needed something to assist me in opening the bolt. I got the assistance of another shooter to open the action and extract the empty case. On inspection, I found that when laying the cases on their sides and rolling them on a flat surface, the necks were out of alignment with the chamber. It appears that the barrel, when placed into the laithe wasnt centered correctly so that the chamber reamer cut the chamber off center from the axis of the bore. That piece of junk was sent back to the point of purchase and I received a full refund including shipping costs.
Are they still selling these in Canada?
 
They kind of come and go. Show up in a batch, they sell quick, people post stories similar to yours, they vanish again for 6 months to a year.

Like you, I was interested in one as a cheap .223 bolt gun for gophers and coyotes. But the reviews are all over the place. If you get lucky, you get a good one that works great and is pretty accurate. Or you could end up with a problem like you had.

Seems quality control isn't a strong suit on this line of rifles.
 
Does anyone make an entry level plinker bolt aciton in 7.62x39 the does NOT require tinkering? I.e. unlike those M85 that might or might not work as expected out of box.
 
I think the rifle was known as the BushRanger. I had one in both 223 and 7.6x39

The 223 shot handloads with the 60 gr Sierra HP into about an inch at 100. other ammo was in the 2 to 3" size.

The 7.62 was 2 to 4". The scope bases supplied were crap. I switched over to Weaver bases. The trigger was excellent, once cleaned up. The wood is crap. Not as good as a hockey stick.
