Just received a new JW 20 (Browning SA clone), and after de-greasing and overall clean-up, noticed the front sight is bent, almost 45 degrees to the left. When you sight from the rear, you cannot even see the "gold" bead on the front sight, it's that far bent. When I attached a laser bore-sight and looked thru the rear sight, the laser was spot on where it should be, in the middle where the front sight should be ! I'm going to take it to the range tomorrow to see where it is shooting, but I expect that the sight was accidentally bent (not purposely adjusted that way) Is there any way to bend the front sight true again, ie 90 degrees ? heat it up and a good whack with a brass hammer ? I'm open to suggestions.
Thanks

I wouldn't heat it. I know on the browning the sights are dovetailed mounts. Worst case scenario is the sight snaps when you try to straighten it, this would require a replacement but they should be available from several vendors. OR you can mount a scope/red dot on it.

I think your best bet is to clamp it in a decent vise, suitably padded, of course, and see if you can simply bend the sight back into 'rightness'.
Consider that the sight is hoopered already, if it breaks, you are not any worse off, and are looking for a similar replacement from wherever you can (hint: The EE!)
If it bends back and works, just smile and wave! :)

Since the rifle is an exact copy of the real Browning, you should be able to get a new part if needed from one of the US mail order firms. I did exactly that for the spring in the take-down mechanism at the back of the barrel.
