Norinco JW15 bolt/ bolt channel /sear tuning

Got it and installed it. I have not yet sighted it in, but what an improvement in visibility; not only for the rear sight, but a wide enough knotch with great contrast against the front blade. This is the Marlin sight set, and the dovetail fits; the screw secures the sight. Perfect for a short, quick truck-gun. View attachment 1128635View attachment 1128636
Yeah been happy with mine sighting system. Works well enuff and was able to get pretty decent groupings right up till my front sight fell apart. Seems that dove tails a bit big too. Have it back togeather somewhat by metal working a bit the front sight mount but loosing faith here, seems I may end up scoping this thing eventually with a 4x Simmons I have laying around or grab an ultra cheap Lpvo.

Have mine now running smoother and cycling slightly more reliably. Have about a 60% cycling rate with anything I tryed so far EXCEPT Federal It just won’t extract those. Have done a bit more polishing and will test again next week.

My front sight appears to be one piece of milled steel; ramp and blade; no dovetail. The Marlin sights that I bought were on for $33.00 at Bulseye came with a fiberoptic dovetailed front sight. 3/8 also. I am considering filing the front sight level, then hand cutting a dovetail, if need be. Presently, the improved sight visibility is very good.

Your sight looks identical to mine. It’s a screw into a threaded plate that slides into the dove tail

Very similar; middle screw is elevation, rear screw jams the sight dovetail into the sight body. Easier to install than the old one was to remove.

Well had some success with the rifle. Unfortunately I also had some failures. With much polishing and cleaning I have the rifle now cycling and functioning almost 100% with mini mags and about 50% with AutoMatch. Made a few more adjustments and will test again tomorrow or Wednesday. Bad unfortunately my front sight fell off yet again. So this seem be adedicated scoped rifle. Have a 3-9x40 hake vantage on it now but May swap that for a smaller 2-7 or maybe even a straight 4 power.

Cool! Maybe the dovetail will work? I need to do some measuring!!

The dovetail would have fit I think, but the sight would have been way too low. I ended up filing the sight blade off of the ramp, then cuttin a dovetail with hacksaw and needle files. Took about an hour. I had to peen dovetail flanges on the barrel to make sure that the front sight ramp can be tightened in place. Turned out nice! Using the ramp allowed me to use the sight hood too!

Tinybear, I also had the front sight fall off. I peened the dovetail for the front sight as well; got it to where I had to tap the dovetail nut into the dovetail slot. Short sight radius was a bit tough to get windage zeroed, but I love the elevation screw. I did not have my right shooting glasses, but it is on target. The stock JW mag is starting to feed better.

Bottom line, much improved sight visibility, much smaller, tighter groups.

Did a bit more work with mine and am happy to report I think I have all issues some what sorted. Took a lot of polishing and cleaning to get here. Was afraid to do too much so it was do a little bit then test at range next visit. Do a bit more and repeat. I’m hesitant to go any further now as I feel this is acceptable at this point.

Shot 50 rounds of CCI MiniMag 100 zero issues. Then shot about 20 rounds of Federal AutoMatch. About half of them required two cyclings of the bolt to extract but I never had to extract manually with a screwdriver at least.

I also have the front sight mounted and epoxy’s in so I can now run iron sights again which is ideal.

Accuracy is more than good enuff for what I wanted (iron sight practice at 25 yards). Next range trip I may take this and my Henry 22mag with the peep sights out to see which I can group better with.

*Update*. Well decided to brave doing a bit more. I polished the chamber a bit and clean up the bolt face a tad. And I now have a 100% success rate feeding all ammo I fed it today. AutoMatch, CCI standard, MiniMag, and Blazer. Everything Fed, fired, extracted, and ejected perfectly. Accuracy was more than acceptable and was on par with the best I could muster with my Henry frontier I also brought along today (other iron sight rifle I like shooting). Happy to have it finished and operational. That was a PITA to get sorted but glad I managed. Going to enjoy this rifle now.
