Norinco M-14's at Kelly's Guns

Kelly's guns in Foxboro (near Belleville Ont) has Norincos. I saw at least 10. They have them on for $599.99. I know the price is truly insane but they have them in stock and will ship. They come with the 3 mags and sling etc.
 
I bought one of those today,at Kellys Guns, i made them throw in a box of 308 ammo with it, came to 677, it is expensive but its hard to find them, its stamped 2007 so its a new version, will probably shoot it next weekend hopefully:>
 
looking at buying one at kellys as well and from napanee-roblin area. would like know how this gun works out for you and let me know how it shoots. clyde napanee are you going to shoot at the napanee gun club
 
(for Joshflint)Hi there just returned home from testing the Norinco that i got at kelly's, i got them to throw in a box of cheapo 308 ammo for free, do the same if you buy one, they will give you a box of PRZI partisaan ammo (serbian)in 180 gr, and i also test fired a box of federal 150gr, I first tried the 150 gr federals because i hear people saying the 180's are too much for these guns, so the 150 grain federals fired flawlessly except for 1 round that jammed, but i think it was because of me loading the clip in a hurry, that was shooting as fast as we could, then we tried the PRZI 180 gr 308's that kellys gave me, they fired flawlessly as fast as i could rip the trigger, as well neither round has much recoil wchich makes it fun to shoot, i was concerned when i bought it because the bolt was pretty stiff, but it works better than my bro's 7400 remington, and it actually shot really accurate with the peep-sight, im going to scope it for deer, im happy with it, i payed a premium for it thats for sure, but i didnt have to wait for shipping or anything, i also noticed in the log book that most of the guns they sold in the last month have been these m14's, so im sure they will give you some feed back, make sure you test a few of them out there, like fiddle with the bolt and stuff, make sure it feels tight, i tested 3 different ones before i got mine, but its worth the money, they gave me a 20rnd/5shot clip and 2 other short 5 round clips with it, comes with the sling and the cleaning kit etc, its a good deal for a reliable gun, i think they are all the 2007 stamped ones that came from michigan or something like that, message me if you want any more info, and good luck:>
 
Joshflint, I dont have a membership at the gun club in napanee, although i do live in napanee, i was thinking of getting one, do you have one and how much are they?? i shoot at my bro's he lives out in tamworth and its farmland around that the neighbours let us use:>

pretty irresponsible on their part, giving you 180 grain bullets for a gun whose top end is 175- 165/168 are the preferred, and 1 box of 180's won't hurt, but kindly do a little reseach on bullet weights and m14 actions
 
t-star I am aware the intended weight (optimal) in grains which these guns were intended for is around 147 to 150 grains/military, not 165/168 for the standard m14, not sure where you got that number from, nor did i say that i regularly put 180's through this gun, I was merely telling Joshflint the bullets i fired and the performance of this gun, the bullets i bought were federal 150 grain bullets which is in the optimal range for these guns. That being said, there seems to be alot of "gun experts" on the net that get their info from wikipedia and think its the word of the lord, firing the odd 180 grain bullet is not going to bend the rod in this gun, the difference in backpressure between a 175 and 180 bullet is almost non-existant, they are barely 100 fps apart for speed.
Do i think they should have given me a lower grain bullet? Probably, do most of the gun dealers that have eperience with these in my area think there is no problem handling 180's in these guns, yes they do, you do your research and i will keep talking to the people who actually own/shoot these on a regular basis:>
 
I really want one of these, do most of the website gun shop's in Canada ship?
I'm in Halifax NS and have no idea if any of the local spots have these.
 
i just got back from the range with my M-14,(gotta say thx to the lady for letting me go on V-day, lol) I unloaded five boxes 100 rds shoots nice. The iron sights are a little if-y, took a few rounds to dial it in, works wonders.

I had to called the local police station here in my community as our range is out doors, (just in case) they were kind enough to pay me a visit while i was playing with my new toy. They were truly impressed with the accuracy of the rifle, i had to add some shims to tighten up the gas operation system.

little hard to re-track the target after firing (moving targets), if used for hunting one shot one kill comes in to play.

Oh i got mine for $450 for a shop in Sherbrooke Quebec called P & S guns. the gentleman was even kind enough to ship the rifle the same afternoon as he received payment.

time to tear it down, my bother in law is an artist. the stock and the hand guard is going into the shop for a air brushed digital camo pattern

i'll be sure to post some pics when finished.

What's the deal with having to call the Police??? Were you on your property? Or do you have to call the cops every time you go shooting at the public range? Either way, kinda different...:confused:

if you wish to ignore someone that WAS ISSUED an m14 and has been shooting them since 1970 in one form or another as well as the ZEDIKER ARTICLE ON MATCH LOADS( which is the old match load for the nm14-168 grain) - which is published on the net, that is your perogative- the us army national marksmanship team, when they were using the m14 found that the 175 caused UNDUE wear on the oprod , and these guys have COMPLETE REBUILD FACILITES AS WELL as an armourer on site- they have a large cube van that goes to matches- i currently have 4- a trw, an h&r, and springfield as well as the norc- that was enough to tell me to DROP BACK TO 168 from 180 - which meant throwing out all my data collected for the 180's over 20 years and starting all over again- and the 150 grain is NOT the optimal bullet for the m14- it is the STANDARD 7.62 nato loading, which can be used for the fn in all its forms, g3, m14, or whatever- some of those receivers were STRETCHED to their design limits to accomodate the nato cartridge, and can only take the lower powered loadings- the real optimal bullet, was the 168 smk as used in match m852 ammo b/c m118 is not availble to civilians- the m118 with its 175 grain smk is really developed for the m24, as the twist changes and there is no gas system on the 24
if one was to discount the gas system, or modify it for heavy bullets, according to the greehill formula the m14 could take up to 190 grain bullets
