Hello everyone. I have an M-93 that was sitting among my collection for quite some time, new in the box never fired. About 3 days ago I finally had the chance to use it on the range. We had about 3 hours of fun with it, and then on the last round of the day, the last clip was used, and the slide went to the open position on the last bullet fired as it should. However, at this point, the slide was jammed. I tried everything to un-jam it to no avail. There is no play at all, and I cannot get the slide to go back into position. I watched several videos on youtube, looking at the breakdown instructions to see of I could press the breakdown release button (near the rear sight)and get the slide un-jammed. I could not. Does anyone have any ideas? Is there some small trick I'm missing here? I looked for obstructions too...I could not see any..however...I am a pretty big noob when it comes to all of this, so I could be missing something. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I've only seen this before at the range where the guy never used oil. I had some in my bag and sprayed oil wherever I could into the action. A little soaking of oil and eventually he got the action open.
Not sure if this applies to you.

Yes, I managed to remove the mag. The slide release lever moves freely...but does not allow the slide to move :( Or affect it's motion in any way...it worked as it should before the jam.

Did you clean all the cosmoline out of it and oil it before this 3 hr range session? How many rounds was that?

I'll dig mine out tomorrow and have a look at what might hang the slide up like that. In the mean time hose it down with WD-40 and let it soak.

Okay, so here's where I bow my head in shame... please see answers below

No....I did not....I feel like a fool now....I did not know about the "cosmoline " (Apparently I'm that guy, I didn't think I'd ever be that guy...but here I am)....I had a feeling that may be a huge part of the issue. I believe it was about 60 rounds. (We shot some other hand guns too, so it wasn't in use the whole time, but my kids love it too..

I will do exactly as you say. I will go soak it right now.

Any luck after soaking it?

60 rounds is nothing, I thought maybe you ran a brick through her.

Looking at mine now I can't really see anything that might hang it up like that unless it self destructed internally, so some more questions.

1. You're sure the slide release isn't the problem?

2. Can you manipulate the safety?

3. Anything rattling inside of it?

4. When you look at the bottom of the slide that's exposed to the rear is there anything in there? There shouldn't be.

If all of this checks out then the only thing that I can think of is that there is crud or a piece of brass hung up behind the ejector.

Hi gnmontey, thanks for your help so far. Please se my answers in bold. I may have to update some of my answer a little later too :)

I am soaking it as we speak in a mild solvent. I am hoping it gets rid of the cosmoline and then the slide moves. I will update you on this later on tonight.

1. You're sure the slide release isn't the problem?

I double checked the slide release, the way the slide is jammed it just moves freely. :(

2. Can you manipulate the safety?

I can manipulate the safety. I can turn it on and off. Hoever with the state the slide is in, it seems to have no effect on the trigger

3. Anything rattling inside of it?

Good question, I will shake it tonight and see.

4. When you look at the bottom of the slide that's exposed to the rear is there anything in there? There shouldn't be.

I will look again, I didn't see anything the first time, but I'll update you on that.

If all of this checks out then the only thing that I can think of is that there is crud or a piece of brass hung up behind the ejector.

Yeah, I don't think any of the gun parts broke, unless it self destruted for some reason...I was windering if a chunk of brass wedged itself back there too.... PS - Do you have any suggestions for if something is jammed behind the ejector? Thanks in advance.

Take some close pics of it inside the receiver and around the whole slide! Might help someone come up with ideas, also, if you have good quality pics, you/we, can enlarge them to get an even closer look than the naked eye, sometimes it doesn't take much to stop the slide!

If you take the grips off to try and resolve this be very, very careful.
As I recall I had a bit of trouble trying to figure out how to get mine back together.

Here's a link to a good tutorial.

Ever get the slide fixed? Does anyone have parts for the m-93? I need a firing pin and spring. Does anyone know if the pre-woodsman firing pin and spring will work in the Norinco?
