Well, alright. I know it might raise some eyebrows that I've been asking about such high-end pistols like Kimber 1911s and H&K Mk. 23s and suddenly I turn around and start asking about a Norinco M-93, but please bear with me.

Since it's pretty cheap I figured I might as well pick one up to go with the 1911/Mark 23 just in case I run short of cartridges or just to practice breathing and trigger control.

So what's the scoop on the M-93? Good idea, should I go along and get it while I place the order for my dream pistol, or should I forget about it, wait another week or so, and then go for a Ruger Mk. III?

The M93 is a bargoon. The finish on the little pistol is great and functions well with most 22lr rounds. The only rounds that did not cycle well were PMC target loads.

Buy some extra mags if you can. I have three. I have put about 2000 rounds through mine and it is still like new.

For a buck and a half you can't go wrong.

If you are looking for something inexpensive go for it , the reports on most of them is good. But if you are looking for something to improve your shooting with your 1911 get one of the Ruger .22's with the 1911 grip angle or one of the Hi-standards withe the 1911 grip angle.
 
A fellow at our club has had one for a couple months and he shoots it on a regular basis. It is nicely finished for a 'rinco and seems to be very reliable and not fussy about what it is fed.

ditto on this one, then when you are shooting the 22 its still close to the 1911 that you shoot. is twice as expensive though
 
i've had one since they first come out and had very few wobbles with mine- most of the time it's been the ammo- however this was not my first gun or my first 22- while it's a great bargain for the money, first timers would be better off with the ruger- better sights and trigger- as a second or back -up they're dandy- but i also think i'd be buying one off gunnar at armco as he does a few "things" to his before he ships them- everyone else just ships as far as i know, some with 2 mags some with 1- the price of the mag usually evens things up
 
And it's a b!tch to re-assemble if you didn't disassembled it correctly. Otherwise, very good pistol for the money involved.
 
I'm so-so on the M-93. I got mine for half price (yes, $75!) from a fellow who got fed up with its' pickiness with .22 ammo (mine seems to like Remington Thunderbolt only). The edges are a bit sharp and the slide release being on the right is a little inconvenient...also reassembly can be a major pain. But once you get it going, it is indeed a neat little gun.
 
I'm another owner of one of those, along with 4 clips. I've also had a chance to shoot another, owned by a colleague of mine. After a rough start of failed ejections, the two M-93's are now cycling all sorts of 22LR brands, cheap and a little more expensive. They shoot wally world Xpert22, Dynapoints with an average of one or two failed ejections per brick, which is almost as many dud's that are in the brick of Xpert22. I have also shot several hundred Stingers and Thunderbolts so far without any hiccups at all. The best ammunition so far seems to be Federal Champion (bricks of 500 are sold at my local Crappy Tire). I don't want to admit how much of that I've shot through those guns so far, as you might think these guns are all I use. Maybe I've just gotten lucky, but my M93 is working well enough (through all 4 clips).

Initial cleaning required heavy duty TLC. I used Simple Green Max to take off the heavy packing grease. Disassembly is a snap, and I found re-assembly to be rather easy once you figure out the angle to press the backstrap, and remember to push the spring pin into the right position first (follow the instructions, they're clear enough to follow). I have not had re-assembly problems that have been described by others. That had me spooked at first, but so far so good.

For a 'buck and a half', it's a whole lot of fun. But I'm sure that there are duds out there waiting to be bought.
 
I can't miss with mine.....I am sooo impressed with this gun for the money....and as stated, don't take it apart!!! Cheap to shoot and very accurate.
 
i've got 2 guns i don't dare detail strip- ones the m93 and the other is a REMINGTON NYLON 66- not to say i don't know how, i just CHOOSE not to
 
I have put over 10,000 rounds thru mine and it will ring the 3" gong at 25 yards everytime. Mine doesn't like waxy coated bullets and right now I am running American Eagle thru it and the kids love to shoot it.
