I keep going back to the offer that Marstar has on right now for this rifle for $429 including the case. It sounds like a fantastic deal. I am familiar with the springfield M14 - it's a formidable piece of equipment and has a legendary field history. It's still used today by NATO forces in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc, etc.

Anyone have the Norinco M14? If so, what's your thoughts on it in terms of accuracy, reliability, handling etc, etc....?

If I get enough positive comments, I am buying one :)

They can have some minor issues but are mostly good and Marstar will take it back if you aren't happy.....CanadaAmmo might still have some shorter barreled versions available for about the same price if that interests you.

Cant beat it for the money , I now have my 3rd one on the way .
Overall they are a great deal but may need abit of tweaking....but lots of help on here for ya.

And as our favorite m-14 guru (Hungry) says......dont buy one buy two !!

GI M14's were made by 3 companies and the US government armory. TRW, Winchester, H&R and the US gov Springfield armory. To my knowledge only the US is using them in the field and I'm not sure anyone else even posses them now. Some GI M14's made their way from Israel to Canada.

There is a ton of info on these rifles here. They are very popular with most. It's difficult to argue the value for dollars spent by all accounts. And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

They are great guns.
Of course they weren't made with real quantities of authentic American Freedom!
But they are awesome. Very well made albeit a little rough on the surface finish in some areas but that is cosmetic nonsense. The Norinco M14's are supposed to be closer to the original GI M14 than the Springfield M1A's from what I have read and heard.
Very sturdy, very reliable and accurate for a battle rifle. The sights can be a little iffy but you can fix that with a Garand rear sight assembly for pretty cheap and a little metal file for the front post.
I never regretted buying one for a second :D
All around a great gun for the money. Buy one!

i've got a "few" of them and my norc shoots right with the springfield or the h&r- and it's a SUPER OLD BLUED one- you just have to watch for pressure signs when you get close to the max, and limit yourself to 168 grain max bullets

Sorry to hijack but you can only shoot 165 gr and
Less?

no, it's 168 for target shooting( ie match) and 165 for hunting- you can go THE ODD TIME to 180, but a steady diet will damage your oprod - unless you have a sadlak piston installed - which is what i'm looking at, given all my other 308's shoot 180's

So with a modified sadlak piston, you can safely shoot 180gr all day long?

sadlak claims their grooved piston was developed for heavy national match ammo -however, i fail to see how just changing the piston is going to allow this; the us national team had all sorts of tricks plus a full armourer team and they found increased wear at anything above 175 grains, and if there was validity to sadlak's claim, these things would be a "common knowledge' replacement ( such as the replacement of the chinese rear sight with the usgi m1 garand)
i see they are available through brownells, but there's also probably a caveat in place so they don't get into canada
just as a side note, the us team also found that the grooved piston decreased the accuracy , and went back to the 175-173 grain range( slr m118)

That guy hits me right in the ON button ....and I found his OFF button .

Its called welcome to my ignore list and he is the only one on it !!

Haha one time I was in Electronics Boutique, looking for a 60gb PS3 because they're the backwards compatible PS2 devices. The lady was convinced I needed an 80gb, because it was more powerful.

I knew she wasn't trolling, simply because she really believed what she was saying.

This dude is trolling, and it's pretty funny.
