Okay, you guys... sign up for a clinic and let's get all these newbie issues sorted out once and for all.... Keep that gas piston dry. It's designed to be shot that way. For you clean freaks, I got yer backs. When I was on the shooting team we cleaned our pistons this way:
1) couple of drops of bore cleaner into the weep / exhaust hole at the bottom / under the gas cylinder just before the front band
2) cycle the action a few times to work that carbon cleaning / loosening bore cleaner work on the carbon
3) go to the range and (must
yell, "Fzck you , GI!" or "Gooks in the Wire!" while) shooting that baby lots.
No joking, that's how you clean gas systems. Or you newbs could buy a drill bit scouring/digging set and scrape the shzt outta yer components, but they yer #### will likely fall off. Either way, just shoot it dry! I cannot remember my NRA High Power (he's ranked as a High Master) coach tell me otherwise.
Please be careful and always load from the mag, even if it's slow fire/ individually.... prevents slam fires and #### loss!
Cheers,
Barney
