Hi all,
I just bought a next to new M14 here on the ee. I'm guessing its the latest model. Packing slip that came in the manual is stamped Jan 2015. Barrel is straight, gas lock is tight at about 5 o'clock, barrel is flush with the receiver. I'm impressed with the fit and finish for what it is actually. Anyway...my question is, basically do these rifles still have the soft bolt issues I've read about? Is there anything else I should look for? I've replaced the op rod spring guide to straighten the spring, and hopefully improve accuracy. Where is the best place to get replacement irons and possibly a USGI bolt if need be? Thanks.

no soft bolts

do a tilt test Google it

wolverine supplies have USGI parts kits right now best bang for your buck all m14 parts except receiver

Thanks for the info. Those sights would be perfect. Glad to know the bolt issue is rectified. Seems to be an early issue anyway, that was blown out of proportion. Thanks again.

Good to see another m305/m14 owner .
There's a lot of good info and people here , sounds like you already know the basics

Some are good shooters out of the box , other need a little help

Did you get a shorty or a 22" barrel?
hope to see a range report soon

It's a 22 inch barrel and there's a USGI stock on the way. Needs refinishing, but thats part of it :) Hoping to shoot it on Friday if spring ever shows it's face. Thanks for the reply's everyone.

What's that small spring in the picture for?

That's the Springfield M1A NM rear sight. The windage knob doesn't have raised edges to catch on the receiver. It utilizes a ball and spring (in the rear sight ear) to "click" in to place.

They will work in a non-SAI receiver, but there will be no positive hold to keep the windage setting.

I have several Fiberglass USGI stocks in inventory..... from $75 (beat up and needs work) to $350 (selector cut-outs filled and refinished).

If you're looking for wood, keep your eye on the EE, they do turn up from time to time!

I found it on the ee. It's not mint condition though. Needs refinishing. Numrich sells them as well. They ship to Canada, just not at the moment. The girl I spoke with said by the end of April.

They are shipping again, and reduced their foreign handling charge to $10US rather than that outrageous $35US they use to charge.
