Norinco M14 Serial Number Information

Recently purchased what I thought was a Norinco M14 not certain anymore serial number seems strange. Anybody got any info

S/N: P140577

No markings on the heel only have marking on left side of receiver.

That P Prefix is what I'm really curious about.

I'm going to take a wild guess that P stands for Polytech. The 14 probably means it's produced in 2014. My receiver markings are the same as yours, save the serial number.

Yea I had a feeling it was for Polytech but uncertain since I've never seen or read about any Polytech/Norinco's with a P prefix. Hadn't thought of the 2014 part though good thinking!

The electro penciled serial number has something to do with the import date. There's a way to tell what year the receiver was made by reading the lotto numbers below the stock line. If you search for the user "Different" on the m14forum, there's a thread about it. I'll see if I can find it.
