Norinco M14 Shorty with Italian Wood Stock

Are these Norc's fixer-uppers like most other Norc's, or are they in better condition/better fit (indexing, tightness, etc)

Pretty nice look. But Norinco has to improve seriously its QC. If so, it would be a no brainer. But with all the common known issues, it is like a "ferrari paint on a Lada"...

Most issues easy to fix. Peen the barrel where the oprod guide is affixed (free) and loctite it, New spring and USGI or NM spring $50, Check head-space, only cost of stamps and an envelope to send 3 pieces of brass to Tactical Teacher/Barney $5 including ammo. Check for barrel index using stickies on CGN (FREE). If out of spec, try and take in a clinic where you can learn to correct and correct while you are there. All in all about $55. Much more can be done, as I have on mine, replacing flash hider with USGI, Replacement of front and rear sights with USGI. New stock will be between 150-250 or so for a Boyds/USGI. The difference, doing it yourself you learn about the platform, and learn to LOVE IT for what it is. Either way you will be doing some tweaking, or #####ing about how its a sh*tty shooter. Either way, have fun fellas!!!

Yes, you are right. Most of them are easy to fix. But for a brand new gun tagged at 800.00$, you don't have to touch anything on it, IMHO. It is very simple to manufacture them correctly. Chinese workers have tools and skills for. But they just don't care. And their QC seems to be non-existent. Canadien customers don't have to do their job and fix their rifles! Importers should tell them: do your job properly or KEEP them!

Chinese are not stupid persons. And they love our cash. They will do the necessary efforts to sell their products, believe me. And if it costs 100$ or 200$ more, no doubt it's worth it.

$300.00 increase,,,LOL..for a Norinco...save a little more and get the real deal,,,these things are still rushed together chinese crap,,,STOP buying Norinco products and watch the prices tumble back down to where they belong,,,these are cheaply made,,,and should have a cheap price,,,they do the job mind you,,,but they still are not as well made as North American products,,,

We knew we would be paying more, cause of our dollar, cost of shipping, parts, manufacturing etc (All the importers have been talking about it, and remember before Marstar started bringing these in way back when, Lever arms were selling these things for 700-800 dollars and had NO trouble selling them). With taking into consideration a $200.00 stock give or take, we are actually paying 579 for an M305. That's about a 28 percent or about $129 increase over previously brought in M305's. Now, my last NORC was indexed properly, great bolt/lug engagement, decent rear sights (windage knob worked alright with some cleanup, and tweaking, and elevation worked perfectly), had clean manufacturing with minimal machining marks and I had no issue paying 450 for it. The only real issue was a slightly canted front sight, Due to a slightly out of spec flash hider that I replaced with a USGI. It was still a great shooter right out of the box!! A standard M1A will cost you about 1895 after dollar exchange, GST and shipping, and a loaded about 2125 and a Match model about 2650-2700 landed at your door. An LRB will be about 3675 landed too your door give or take, and a new Rockola will be about 2500.00. While I would love to see better QC out of the Norcs, with a little work, they can be made into great rifles. Now, from what I have read on other forums, if you purchase a standard M1a, you will still be doing some upgrades, you will just be starting with a much more expensive canvas to start you masterpiece with :). That saying, I may put one of my Norcs up for sale, and might just have to grab one of those incoming JRA Rockola m14F's that are soon to be arriving.... THEY LOOK REAL NICE!!!! :) I will have to see what my iron's shooter will do after USGI front and rear sights, and a nice USGI fiberglass stock gets bedded and stiffened and put on. I might not wanna part ways with it :)
