I'm in search of some information.
Different people seem to have different opinions on the matter.
Can anyone shed some light on the matter of Norinco M14 recievers, barrels and actions fitting into an actual Springfield wood stock?
Would it need any kind of adjustments or tweaking or will it just drop right in?
Secondly how bad are the Chu wood stocks on the Norinco M14's?
I know they aren't Hard Walnut Springfields grown with freedom water from the United States Of Awesome :D but does the quality of the wood affect the accuracy at all?
Any information from people with actual experience and knowledge would be welcome.

I have a USGI Wallnut, USGI Fiber, and a SA Fiber. All fit my 2007 Norc without adjustment.

Chu wood is not as bad as it is made out to be. Overall the stock dimentions are slightly larger than USGI and it is a softer wood for sure. No matter how much you clean it up, it will always smell of cosmoline, but there is something strangely appealing about that....like....like the smell of victory.

I painted mine with truck bed liner and still have it.

lol Nothing else has that smell....that....that kerosene smell ;)
Right on, thanks for the information.
How hard is it to actualy track down a Springfield M14 stock?
If I was so inclined to purchase one, is there a good source you would recomend here in Canada?
Or is my best bet in the states?
Again, any info/contacts would be appreciated.
Thanks again.

Got my USGI wallnut and SA fiber from Ebay. The USGI fiber came from Fabsports, but they have been out of stock for quite some time now.

Put a WTB on the EE and see what surfaces.

so the popsicle mod doesn't apply anymore?- or is it just a matter of time before the pin drops out or did they make the pin just ever so slightly longer

I heated up and bent the pin that you use to move the retainer pin on an angle were it is still useable but the op-rod wont walk out on me.
;)
I guess a pic would be best. Do that latter tonight 4 ya.

Aye, the Norinco recoil spring guide retaining pin is a bit shorter then normal USGI or Springfield's, so if you put your Norinco in a Springfield or USGI stock, you will need to look up the 'Popsicle stick mod'.

The mod is honestly really really simple. You take about 1.5" of Popsicle stick and epoxy it inside the stock where your recoil spring guide retaining pin is so that it doesn't 'walk out' during recoil and then your spring guide would let go and become loose inside your rifle. This would effectively cause the rifle to cease functioning but I dont think it would cause any permanent damage.

You can search for the mod here on this site.
