Norinco m14 troubleshooting

The last 2 times I've been in the field with my 2009 Norinco m14 I have experienced a failure to (auto) feed.

I am pretty sure that the cause is a loose gas system.

I plan on ordering a gas tube shim kit from Marstar (or if someone can help me get something quicker in Calgary) to take care of that factor, but my op rod guide is also loose and I have no idea how to stabilize that sucker.

Got locktite... Now what?

Ok, so i got my red locktite, now what? Do i just apply the product in the Space between the guide and barrel?

Is there a youtube vid on this?

good question, I'm still on the fence whether i get a M305 or a Saiga .223 (ignoring the difference in caliber) the Saiga appears to have little or no tweaking necessary to get decent accuracy. Over here in NZ I can pick up a M305 for $650NZ and the Saiga with 16" barrel is $800. Looks like I'd end up with a sizeable gunsmith bill if I wanted the M305 to shoot anything smaller than 4" at 100m? Anyone know what the average accuracy of the M305's is? I know that the .223 Saiga's will easily do 2" when scoped......
 
ok done and done and op rod guide is tight!!

Thanks everyone for your advise! I 'pitted' the barrel (made small dents with a chisel and hammer), applied the red loctite to the space between the guide and barrell, left her over night and Bam. Nice and tight!
 
Does it still have cycling issues?
Please ensure to line up your gas ports. Then if you have to much play in your gas sytem try fliping around the gas lock and see if that tightens it up for ya.
Also make sure the square cut out on the front of the mag goes into the lip from the op-rod gide and that when you rock it back into postition you hear an autobale "click".
If this doesn't work and you have tried different mags to ensure it is not a magazine issue please report back here.
 
Lemme know if you need shims for that gas cylinder assy. Many , many experienced M14 tweakers in Calgary since I did those 2 clinics in 2010. :D

I havent been to the range yet to try out, plan on going friday. I'll let you know. I'll also try flipping the gas lock tmrw. Thanks agin everyone. Hey hungry... Any plans for another clinic out here in oil country?
