Norinco M14s Scout Scope - what's the consensus?

What mount is he using here? Is it just drilled into the receiver?

I'd like to try this system (as seen in the best movie ever)

wouldnt this scope be an alternative too? (20inch eye relief) or do I have it all wrong?

I think the info you have there is wrong. I know this is right off the Bushnell website, but it doesn't make sense. All variable scopes that I have looked at have a relatively short eye relief. All of the long eye relief scopes are fixed power, i.e check out the dedicated "Scout" scopes from Burris and Leupold.

Well,
I just got my HAMMER 2X Red Dot, with the "T" reticle.

Externally, with the add on 2X magnifier not installed, it looks exactly like any other 1X cheap red dot.
Internally, the optics are clear and crisp, and the BIG easy to find T reticle is very much appreciated by these old eyeballs..

However, with the HAMMER brand,
there is a REMOVEABLE screw in extension that fits into the front, that increases the magnification to 2X,

These are available on EBAY for about $ 80 US, which is roughly twice the cost of similar red dots,
BUT,
IMHO,
either the 2X feature or the T reticle makes them superior to most of the cheap/simple red dots out there, and worth the extra cost.

I've mounted one on my M14, and another on my LMT 10.5" shorty,
and I'll report back on the long term durability of these units.

Lazerus2k, how did your Hammer perform?

Hi-Lux/Leatherwood - 2-7X LER scope?

Does anyone have experience and opinions on the Leatherwood LER27X32, an intermediate to long eye relief rifle scope with variable magnification? The link below provides specs (8" to 13" eye relief). In particular I'm curious how this might stand-up on an M14, and the quality of the optic? The price appears reasonable, if it's actually available.

I liked the Hammer "T" reticle red dot,
but after playing with it for a bit,
I decided to go back to low power NON-electronic scopes instead.

Right now, on my M14 shorty, I am running an old, made in Japan, Bushnell 1.75 - 5X. At low setting, it is fast for 25 yds to 100 yds. The scope is usually set to low, but the 5X setting is just a twist away if it is needed.

Of course, my old eye balls are 62 years old, and were lazer melted to approximate 20/20 ten years ago.

I'm using the Leatherwood LER27X32 on a UTG rail. Got the scope through Wolverine.
FOV is small as one would expect but just raising the rifle naturally brings the target into sight.
Unfortunately I can't zero it.

Ran out of adjustment at 4" high at 50 yds and I'm looking for some kind of fix, debating shimming the rail but none too happy about that option.

Where can I get the Ultimak scout mount in Canada?

This is the main reason why I recomend Vortex Viper's for the M14 platform due to the 80+ MOA that you can do. Now for your fix I would resomend high rings set to off set the lack of MOA adjustment's that you need.

Now you tell me...........

After I posted I thought of the Burris offset rings, I'll look in to that.
One good thing about the rail and a smaller diameter scope, it sits low and in your line of sight.
When looking at the target I can raise the rifle naturally, target comes in to view and I don't think I need to add any height to the stock to shoot comfortably (but I'm told I have a big head ?).
You do have to hunt a bit at max power setting(7x) but below 4 or so it's quite good.
