Someone here has posted that it is easy to remove the safety. The two small stop screws are removed and then the safety just unscrews.

OK, I can do that. Then turn in the small screws to blank the holes and screw in a larger round head screw to blank the bigger hole.

But, to unscrew the safety, I have to remove the grips. They appear to be a Chinese puzzle. how do i get them off??

I don't have my pistol yet, but from what I've read, they attach from the inside(obviously). Stick your finger up the mag well, and feel for a wing, for lack of better word, going across,left to right, on the inside of the grip panel.

Turn it to vertical, and the grip should come off. You should be able to see the other one now. This is just from what I've read, so this is my understanding in theory.....YMMV.
 
There is a metal tab on each grip inside the mag well, the long one has a notch that you gently slip a screwdriver in and move the metal tab so the wings are no longer touching the frame. The other side has a metal wing cross wise move it gently as well and the grip will come off, quite an interesting solution.
 
You have to take the grip that has the screw driver slot off first then you access the other grip through the frame
 
I looked for awhile before I spotted the tab to push the grip clip off. Then I spotted it right at the magwell. I painted the complete tab white so you can see it clearly in this picture.

It is easy to remove the saftey. Remove the two little limit screws and then turn the safety clcokwise a quarter turn. A spring will pop it out. Don't lose the spring. Looking back, I am not sure the grip ahd to be removed for this operation.

With the safdety removed, there is an ugly hole and slot in the frame.

I cut most of the shank off a bolt so it looks like a fat thumb tack. I stuck it in the hole, glued with some contact cement. I will try to find a bolt with a fat enough thread to screw into the hole, later.

im going to weld mine up when it gets here. shouldnt weaken the steel by that much since that area doesnt take any strenth. probably not even high strenth steel to began with. lol
 
I fixed the safety in the off position. Its the easiest way and is the least ammount of work too I think.

1)Disassemble and degrease

2)reassemble, put seftey half way between on and off

3)Put a tiny dot of JB Weld in the white dot hole

4)Move safety over to the off position, and press in slightly to set the JB Weld.

5)Clean off the excess with a cleaning patch, and let harden overnight.

Now, when you look at mine it doesnt look like its modified at all, but you can push as hard as you like and it wont budge. Now this doesnt get rid of it altogether, so this wouldnt suit the needs of those who cant stand the sight of it, but it definately prevents the safety from working its way into the on position during firing.
 
Here's my bubba fix: Cut aluminum from a pop-can to about the right size, paint black, then attach with the 2 screws that were already in there. Done!
