Hi all,
Got me one of those Chinese Tokarevs, but have one small little problem. The magazine release isnt working very well, mag sticks in a lot. Have to really really push the button to get it to release, like not with your thumb push the button, but get out a screw driver and really push the button in crazy hard to get it to drop the mag.
Now, my question is, the little screw on the other side, does this loosen that button off, or adjust it somehow? I tried unscrewing it, to see if it would loosen up the mag release at all, but, the mag release button just spins freely, like I can get it to lock and stop turning, so that I can back the screw out on the other side. Any hints tips suggestions out there? Also anyone have the right six numbers for the 6/49? Thanks much.

Hello there thats actually not a screw (I thought it was too) Its actually a a press pin (not sure the proper term) you need to press both sides in and push it out, I seen on the internet that you can make a pressure pin remover out of a nail or similar metal shaft by cutting or filing a V-notch inside it so when you tap the pressure pin with it , it will allow the pin to pop out, Hope this helps if not PM me and I will send you the info I used

I saw that too. If you're going to make up a V ended tool for pushing out the pins I'd suggest going around to a local hobby shop that has K&S music wire. Buy a legth of the size that is just a hair under the pin diameter. The music wire is spring tempered so with care you can cut off a length and carefully file or dremel a flat on one end and a semi rounded ( or < shaped notch on the other end to do the compressing of the split pin. Being spring tempered it'll last a HUGELY long time compared to a dead soft steel nail.

Music wire can sort of be cut with a GOOD set of big linesman pliers or you can use a cut off disc with a Dremel. For shaping the ends you CAN use a small rounded file but use lots of pressure and push it slowly. Not so much pressure that the file snaps but enough to force the cut. Otherwise it'll take the top of the teeth off the file. If you use a Dremel to grind the end shape or slice it off with the cutoff disc be sure to keep it cool with some water to avoid altering the spring temper. Cut a little and dip. If the steel goes more than a straw colour then slice or cut off the bit that went blue and try again. When it goes deep blue the metal is no longer as hard as it was.

this is simple tool making at its finest. Make 8 or 9 four inch long punches and sell 'em to the other 213 owners that need them as well. Be nice and just charge for postage and a buck each for your time.

Once my own 213's get here I'll probably do the same for the BC clan.

Thanks for the input guys. Still not sure what I should be doing tho. Am I punching out the sleeve that is around the screw on the right hand side of the gun? I wouldnt be punching the actual release button I dont think would I on the left side? And once I drift out that pin or whatever it is, how do I cure the actual problem of the button not releasing my mag easily except with the use of great force? What is the screw for thats in the middle of the sleeve? I'm not a totally mechanical guy with a lot of imagination so please bear with the silly questions.
I read thru that web sight link that you sent, but it didnt totally enlighten me. Need more info.
Also had it out today for the first time shooting it, and it ejects the brass straight back into my face. Each shot bounced off my safety glasses. Very annoying. My real russian Tokarev (a 1943 Izzy) shoots like a dream, and ejects the brass straight up about 500 feet I swear, and it always lands behind me somewhere out in the parking lot..........about three towns over. I haven't looked at the norc in detail since coming home this afternoon, not that I know what I would be looking for anyway................ummm.........any clues out there as to why it throws the brass straight back over the rear sight right into my eyeballs? Any clues how to fix it? Perhaps I can just shoot from the hip with this one, and catch all my spent brass in my pocket. Thanks in advance for input.

Are you shooting reloads or factory ammo?? I had the same problem(different pistol though) until I swapped out for a stronger spring. If its factory ammo, I think the extractor?? might be to blame for kicking it out at a goofy angle. Hopefully someone else can offer some thoughts on this.

I would try a different brand factory ammo just to confirm that it is the gun, not the ammo. Then find out how one goes about changing the angle of the extractor to change the flight path of the brass. That's all I can offer you.

If you take a close look at the schematic you will note that part 31 is the magazine release button. This inserts thru part 17. There is also a small spring part # 30. As it is a slotted pin I suppose you could mistake it for a screw. You do not need any fancy tools to disassemble it. Place the frame on something like a block of wood to get it up off the table and angle your punch slightly to force the slotted pin together and out simultaneously. Try it again after cleaning ,oiling and reassembling.
