Hi,i got a norinco m305,and i want to know, what type of ammo i should use with it,(commercial ammo)i tried some of the norinco ammo 145 gr fmj,not bad, but,i read some bad comment on it,so what would be the right ammo to used.thanks:confused:

Norinco is junk ammo! It feeds well but has horrible accuracy! Go federal!

I have no problem with the nork ammo and accuracy. National Match rifles had to meet 3.5" at 100m after 3 ten shot groups. When I do my part I can get that at 100m with the nork stuff.

I prefer handloads. My recipe is 41.5 grains H4895, BR2 primer, Hornady 168 grain Match, Win case, full length size. 2.810 COL. 2550 fps. On a good day it will shoot 1.5 - 2.0 MOA. I have been meaning to load 168 grn Sierra Match as that is supposed to be the biz with this rifle.

I've fired half a 520 case of norc ammo with zero probs.

Winchester,.... what was the round count on your M-14 previous to using Norinco762X51?

Can you check to see if there's any "new" bolt roller wear(peening) on the op rod roller channel after over 200 rounds of this Norinco ammo in your rifle.

I saw a new Shorty pictured on here showing the channel with excessive peening after only 120 rounds of Norinco.

I was just wondering if it was an action issue/too soft op rod issue of this particular rifle, or if it was an ammo gas impulse problem slamming the op rod too hard. Burn rate/charge weight not optimum for an M-14. Any help would be appreciated. I've put 600 rounds through my N(Norinco)-14 with no wears signs there. I just started using norinco, didn't see any pressure signs on cases, but was wondering if there would be premature wear if I continued to use it. Cheers,.RTS.

Don't know what you guy's are talking about...
175 Barne's Match grade with some nice Hodgson powder and take that out to 600 meter's & watch it perform. At 200 meter's we were consitantly getting an 2 & 1/2 inches or less. But then again this ain't no regular M14 I am talking about :p

Round count before norc ammo was zero. Only ammo its seen so far.
Roller channel is fine on mine.
Don't have much experience with the m14, but I've been impressed with the accuracy from my
Rifle/ammo.

then 2 mags again at 60 yrds

Not bad Win94,

Just throwin' this out there, has anyone ever seen any 7.62x51 or .308win surplus rounds up for grabs? just got my hands on an M305 and buddy threw in what he had left of his ammo for it. 13 rounds mil surp fmj.

Thanks for reply 94, and that's great shooting off hand at 60 yards.

I posted velocities in another thread for the Norinco Nato ammo if you're interested. It averaged 2804fps@15feet in my 22" Nork. Bang on for Uncle Sam's M-80 ball, which it's suppose to be.

I was just worried the chinese were getting their velocities into spec for NATO ball, while using a powder charge/burn rate, that gave a poor gas impulse cycle on the M-14s action. Cheer's. :canadaFlag:

Would you be selling a sizable quantity, say a crate of 520 rounds, for cheap? :) These shoot good out of my older Norc M14S. 1.5" to 2" off the bench at 100m is typical.

I have two and a half crates of that Norc ammo and I ain't selling it ;) :) :)

Show-off.

I managed to slip unnoticed into my local gun store yesterday morning and buy 3 boxes of the Norc 762X51 ammo;).

Man she hates me sending those loonies down range on every squeeze, when there's so much that needs to be done around the house!!:slap:
